Prepare to be inspired by all things rustic and handmade, a beautiful bride in a vintage inspired wedding dress plus awesome, ‘in the moment' photography by Claire Eliza.

Morgane and Jonathan's intimate, laid back, DIY wedding in Alsace, France was such a fun and love filled affair bursting with creativity and colour.

Watch out for deer cake toppers, hand picked flower arrangements, a DIY light installation made by Jonathan, ‘free hugs' and cute, DIY fabric hearts galore!

Every single guest wore a heart pin with the couple's initials embroidered on it. Such a sweet idea!

 From The Bride…

We didn't really have a special theme but we wanted our wedding to be cool / simple, like a weekend in the mountains with friends and family. We wanted to add an American touch as we both love the USA. We mostly did this with the menu as we had mini hamburgers, corn, baked potatoes, cobb salad etc. We also named the tables with places we’re going to visit for our honeymoon in the USA!

Oh and I wanted to put hearts everywhere!

Jonathan and I had been together for more than 11 years when we got married and we wanted to have a wedding that looked like us as a couple. All our families and friends said:

It’s so you.

Which was the best compliment to us.

 Favourite Moments

When I arrived with my mom and brother and saw Jonathan crying and all the guests with tears in their eyes.

Then the vows. Jon’s vows were the best.

And finally, at the end of the ceremony, we all listened to the music and when it ended, everybody started to blow bubbles and smile. It was really sweet and magical.

 décor & details

We had a complete DIY wedding. All the flowers came from my mother in law’s garden (except for my bouquet – my mom wanted to buy it for me), the blankets were knitted by my mom or crocheted by my mother and aunt in law. The ‘elle' (her) and ‘lui' (him) signs on our chairs were embroidered by a good friend of mine who works for Chanel.

All the paper goods were designed by me and made by a friend. We wrote our ceremony and own vows. The linen tablecloths were made by jonathan’s mother too. We kept old jars and empty bottles for the centerpieces.

Jonathan made the Morgane + Jonathan lights sign and he also built a real automatic photo booth! (Everybody was amazed!)

I made all the name tags with stamps, the guest book with kraft and blue gingham, sewed a few hearts (but most of them were sewed by Jonathan’s aunt). I also made all the fabric braids for the alley and garlands. My mom made our favors bags and baked more than 500 colored heart shaped cookies.

We also sewed some felt hearts buttons with our initials embroidered on them that all our guests wore. My stepfather and my father in law also made the wood table for the ceremony and the arch. Oh and I put the rest of the fabrics on every bottle of bubbles.

 The Wedding Music

Processional – I can't help myself falling in love with you – Ingrid Michaelson version

Recessional – You and I – Ingrid Michaelson

We didn’t have a first dance!

 The Photography

Because Claire Eliza is a greaaaaat friend of mine and she's very very talented. I knew I loved her work and didn’t even think of looking for someone else.

 advice for other Couples

Just stay true to yourself and follow your dreams / ideas no matter what – whether it's about the cake, the decor, the venue or the guests / number of guests. It is YOUR wedding. Also try to take a step back – nobody will be AS excited AS you, again it’s your wedding.

(Well except for your mom and mom in law maybe.)

And enjoy all of the process!

Many congratulations to Morgane and Jonathan, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful wedding with us. And huge thanks also to Claire Eliza for sharing these gorgeous and emotive photos with us!
