Romantic Skeleton Key Wedding in Texas

Happy Monday!

As you read this Zee and I will be flying from freezing cold (but oh so quaint, pretty and French) Old Montreal in Canada, to the sunny shores of Miami – queue that Will Smith song.

Yes, dear readers, this weekend I get to go to an actual real-life wedding instead of staring at all the loveliness from behind my computer screen. Yay!

Onto today's inspiration and this Texas wedding captured by Christa Elyce Photography is one of the loveliest I've seen.

Taylor and Ryan's nuptials were filled with Southern charm and elegance from the soft, romantic colour palette to the repurposed doors, rustic lanterns, dreamy florals and vintage skeleton key details.

The bridesmaids' seafoam dresses and the groomsmens' ties compliment the bride's beautiful greeny-blue eyes perfectly. Isn't Taylor just stunning in her fitted, fishtail, lace wedding dress by Enzoani?

Oh and wait till you hear what Ryan's granny did for her grandson before she passed away. So beautiful.

Theme & Colour Palette

Southern Country Chic. Our inspiration initially came from the venue we chose. Our color palette consisted of Blush, Seafoam and Ivory with touches of lace.

The Flowers

We used Peonies, Roses, Dusty Miller, Scabiosa Pods and more.

The Attire

I wore an ivory dress by Enzoani (Fifi). My bridal party wore ‘dusty shale' dresses by JCrew. I let my bridesmaids choose what style of dress they wanted.

A Sentimental Touch

Before Ryan’s Granny passed away, she made handkerchiefs for all the important women in Ryan’s future wedding (his future wife, the mothers and grandmothers). Ryan gave a handkerchief for the wedding to each female in remembrance of his Granny.

The Ceremony Reading

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

I absolutely loved Christa Elyce Photography‘s portfolio and her style seemed to match perfectly with my vision.

Decor & Details

We decorated our venue with flowers, candles, lanterns, wooden ladders and crates. Ryan and his dad made all of the wooden boxes and table numbers. Taylor and her sister made all of the invitations and menus cards. In lieu of party favors, we made donations to charities that are near and dear to our hearts Multiple Sclerosis and March of Dimes.

The Refreshments

For drinks we served beer, wine, mixed drinks, tea, water and soda. During cocktail hour, we served shrimp diablo shooters and chicken wellingtons. We had a sit down meal. For dinner we had pistachio crusted tilapia and filet migon paired with new potatoes and a vegetable medley.

We had a Bavarian cheese cake as our wedding cake and instead of a groom’s cake we served Blue Bell vanilla ice cream in individual cups with wooden spoons.
