Beautiful Baroque Bridal Shoot

It's Friday, the sun is shining (well, in London at least) and boy have we got a treat for you today!

A glorious wedding inspiration shoot, that is sheer heaven for anyone with a love of vintage elegance, modern style ornate accessories, cascading blooms and stylish sweet things.

Baroque bridal beauty, from a team of some of London's finest wedding vendors.

Photographed by the wonderful Fiona Kelly Photography, and styled by the fabulous Elisabetta of Linen and Silk Weddings, this shoot is glamorous, romantic and stylish.

We'll let Elisabetta tell you a little bit more about her inspiration…

This shoot is dedicated to the modern bride who wants to look and feel like a true princess but believes less is more, who is looking for ways to give her wedding that beautiful, impeccable elegance of royal times, while feeling one hundred percent 21st century.

The initial brief for this photo-shoot was based on baroque inspiration.

Hours of research and Pinterest sessions later, the brief evolved into a contemporary wedding theme inspired by the royal feel of pre-1900, with gentle nods to the earlier, opulent baroque era, its fashion, patterns and architecture.

The Venue

Set in the Nelson Rooms of the Trafalgar Tavern, a Greenwich wedding venue from early 1900, this shoot was captured by wedding and portrait photographer Fiona Kelly Photography who made the most of the elegant chandeliers, floor to ceiling windows and rich decor details, while capturing our modern day princess in a candid and fresh way.

The Attire

For our bridal attire, we went for three distinctive looks with the help of make up artist Ana Ospina Make Up and hair stylist Kasia Fortuna, fashion-forward accessories by Lila, Halo & Co, Gilded Lab, Olivier Laudus and shoes by Freya Rose.

Our first look showcases a dress with petal details from Ian Stuart Bridal recent Frill Me! collection. For our second and third looks we used the gorgeous dresses of Halfpenny London.

The Flowers

The contribution of luxury wedding florist Paula Rooney and cake designer Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium truly brought the theme to life.

Paula Rooney created a cascading bouquet and table arrangements introducing flowers and colours with a distinctive spring/summer feel so as to soften the austere look of era.

The Paper Goods

The talented Made by Molu, designer, stylist and queen of DIY, created all our stationery.

Soumya designed the beautiful invitations and menus in keeping with the elegant and intricate details of baroque, but also handcut gold place names and table numbers to add a modern and fun twist.

The Tablescape

I deliberately chose to work with a rectangular table as I feel it’s becoming more and more a trend, especially for more intimate weddings.

Our wedding table had to reflect those colours and shapes of royal feel, so we worked on a base of white with accents of gold, blush and black.

The Wedgwood plates by Chinacraft, combined to metallic black and rose glasses and gold cutlery, perfectly completed the look without weighing down the table with excessive opulent details.

The Dessert Table

Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium and Paula also created a dessert table fit for a queen!

Elizabeth capitalised on the gold theme by creating intricate cakes and cupcakes with gold detailing, and a bespoke wedding cake recreating the details of one of the two Halfpenny London dresses.

With wall decorations becoming more and more popular, we decided to ‘frame’ the dessert table with a gold foliage garland and roses tied to cream and blush ribbons.
