• My Vintage Hen Do: Afternoon Tea, Nipple Tassels & Burlesque Lessons

    I’m sure there are lots of brides out there like me who come over in a cold sweat at the thought of L plates, matching T-shirts/sashes and novelty willy straws! I’ve been on some fab hen dos with all of the above that were LOTS of fun but it’s just not me. I wanted a classy, sassy, fun, vintage hen do and that’s just what I got!

    I actually planned my own hen do! I insisted. Not because I didn’t trust my maid of honour, she knows me well enough to know that a ticket to the Adonis Cabaret is not my style but because I’d done my research and knew exactly what I wanted {and definitely didn’t want}.

    I feel brides to be, maids of honour and anyone wanting to throw a fabulous event should know about Vintage Patisserie. I thought I’d share a few photos with you to give you an idea of the fabulousness of it all!

    {FYI Angel, our lovely ruby haired host, was actually on Dragon’s Den last year and she got the investment!}

    So here’s a run down of the day:

    My maid of honour {and super talented hairstylist} Kelly and her lovely sister, Hannah, helped me to go for a bit more of a glam hair do rather than my usual poker straight straight locks. Then we got our vintage glad rags on and headed off to trendy Brick Lane, East London. Home of all things vintage and many curry houses!

    The girls from Vintage Patisserie decked out private rooms above a bar in Brick Lane {93 Feet East} for a vintage tea party extravaganza! They paid such amazing attention to detail by creating bunting and cupcakes with pictures of me and my friends on {which was a complete surprise to me!} ‘I heart Elizabeth’ chocolates and amazing mismatched vintage tea cups filled with Jasmine tea, cava and berries. It was so lovely and exceedingly delicious!

    There was a dressing up box full of vintage headbands, feather boas, top hats, pearls and bow ties for us to rummage through and the girls at Vintage Patisserie even applied red lipstick/eyeliner to complete our vintage look.

    Then we had quite a giggle making our own nipple tassels…we chose our fabric & tassel then it was glue guns at dawn! To top it all off we had a fabulously fun burlesque lesson with a talented burlesque dancer {Slinky Sparkles}. We learnt lots of cheeky moves such as pulling down stockings, taking off gloves with our teeth and how to use a feather boa seductively {no easy feat}!

    {Modeling the finished nipple tassles!}

    {The group dance. We had to work together in small groups to think up a routine using the moves we’d just learnt then put it all together for a group performance. It was great fun, but I certainly wouldn’t give Dita Von Tease a run for her money! There is even video evidence of this dance but that’s for our eyes only…what happens at a vintage tea party stays at a vintage tea party!}

    {Slinky was very impressed with my ‘throw your  feather boa in front of your face’ move!}

    I feel Angel and the team at Vintage Patisserie went above and beyond to make sure I had the most fantastic hen do and they deserve to be recognised for all their hard work. It was a blast and there was not an L Plate in sight!

    After the afternoon’s shenanigans we hit Vodka Revolution, and then moved onto the fabulous Punk in Soho {which plays amazingly ecclectic music by the way!} where we’d reserved a VIP table and…embarrassingly, we even tried out a few of the cheeky dance moves we’d learnt on the dance floor!

    It was such a FABULOUS day and night, I couldn’t have hoped for anything more. I was a very happy hen indeed!

    What are your hen do plans? I’d love to hear from you!

    LOL at some of these pictures, it looks like you had an amazing time! I barely remember my mess shenanigans I was that out of it… but the photographic evidence lives on, and on, and on * shameface*
