So, as you guys know, we have a bit of an international feel here at Bridal Musings. I'm Irish, Elizabeth is British, she lives in Dubai, I live in London, and we feature weddings and shoots everywhere from Italy to Indonesia, with our readers coming from all over the world too.

And while we adore all manner of weddings, and reckon love is love, whatever part of the world you come from, there is something undeniable about planning your big day. It's local.

Of course you can have a destination bash, fly in vendors from overseas, or order your details online. But from the moment you choose where you're going to get married, your wedding gets a sense of place, local vendors come onto your radar, and everything from the flowers, to the food, to where you get your photos taken, will depend on what's available in the area.

And today's shoot is a celebration of the quality and creativity of local vendors. And this particular bunch of talents are based in Shreveport, right up in the corner of Louisiana. Who, despite being pretty landlocked, created the most gorgeous, ethereal beach bridal session.

With beautiful Photography by Michala Wilson, they've styled a simple yet dreamy wedding inspiration, that shows how any couple can have a wedding with details that look straight out of a high end blog or magazine, with just a little creativity, imagination and some carefully chosen vendors.

Starring the cutest dog we think we've ever seen and gorgeous bride Alorah, we'll pass you over to the lovely Michala Wilson to tell us more about it.

From the Photographer

The inspiration behind this shoot was to show brides in our area that all you need to have an amazing wedding, bridal session, or engagement session is some creativity and imagination!

In Shreveport, we don't have any beaches or really any sand except in this one area on the Red River. All it took was a little seeking out, and Alorah's bridal session looked like we were on the beach.

The bridal bouquet consisted of  fern, palms, eucalyptus, roses, calla lilies, privet berries, silver dollar eucalyptus, silver brunnia, and scabiosa pods.

We wanted everything to be light and bright and speak to the natural simplicity that is around in nature already. There is nothing in the shoot that's extremely glamorous, just wispy beauty and white sand between her toes.

A few notes from Southern Glam Makeup Artistry on achieving the looks in this shoot.

The Hair & Make-Up

My inspiration for Alorah’s make-up came from the colors you would normally see at a beach or in the ocean!

Rich, rusty caramel colors derived from sand and seashells were the main color placed all over her eyelids, with a skin toned frost under her brow bone reflecting the wet glisten the salt water gives your skin naturally as the sun hits it.

Our pop of color was a true aquamarine liner along the bottom lash line which embodies the see-through water we all love with hints of emerald and turquoise mixed throughout- just like sea glass! Adding a classic winged liner and wispy lashes to finish her look as a modern mermaid bride.

Alorah's hair was meant to be beautifully messy and truly show a windblown beach wave! We later braided her long locks into a fishtail braid, because come on, what mermaid shoot isn’t complete without a fishtail?

Isn't it gorgeous? I just love the tones and textures, the florals, photography and styling are like something you'd expect from big name vendors. (Loving those air plants!) It definitely pays to check out the local wedding talent in your town or city!

Thanks so much to Photography by Michala Wilson, and the rest of this great team for sharing their beach wedding inspiration with us.
