The details from today’s real wedding are pretty stunning – so before I tell you any more, get ready to add this entire celebration to your Pinterest board (you have been warned!).

Brittany & Stephen tied the knot with a romantic outdoor ceremony and beautiful barn reception at Ironstone Ranch in Pennsylvania.

As a part-time wedding planner, Brittany has an eye for the details, and every last touch, from her beautiful Katie May gown (our go-to for backless wedding dresses!) and mix and match bridesmaid dresses, to the rustic signage, foliage garland, and flower-adorned furniture (I love the stationery too!) was so thoughtfully styled.

With photography by Hay Alexandra and planning by Geomyra Lewis Wedding and Events, this wedding is elegant and classic but filled with chic personal touches and great style.

Like I said, it’s going to be hard not to pin the whole thing…

Our Love Story

Stephen and I met in college right before my graduation (he was a year younger).

I went to James Madison University and Stephen went to Radford University. I was visiting a few girlfriends for the weekend when we met.

You can certainly call it love at first site; from the second we saw each other, we were inseparable. Stephen and I went on to spend that summer together and have been together ever since.

Stephen popped the question while we were on vacation. He travels often for work so I decided to accompany him on his trip to Salt Lake City Utah.

We are really outdoorsy and love to go hiking so we spent a few nights in Arches National Park. The day he proposed, we spent the morning day hiking through the valleys and canyons of the park and decided to have lunch on a cliffside overlooking the dessert and mountains.

It was right after lunch when we were about to hop back on the trail that I turned around and Stephen was on one knee. It was so beautiful and intimate. To say the least, it took my breath away.

Our Wedding

I work part time as a wedding planner so I have seen and helped design my fair share of weddings. It was important to me when designing my own wedding to stay true to myself and I really wanted to capture the essence of Stephen and mines personality.

We wanted it to beautiful of course; natural and pure is really what I was going for. So I stuck with a color pallet of white, cream and gold with lots of luscious greenery. Even my bridesmaids and flower girls wore white and cream.

As for the venue, we wanted something that “had it all” and Ironstone did not disappoint. Not only is it a gorgeous venue with so many amenities (back-up barn in case of rain, horse drawn carriage and wagon, beautiful fields of green for pictures, a house on the property for the bride and groom to stay in, horses and donkeys that roam the property, etc), the staff went above and beyond to meet all our needs.

Additionally, all of their proceeds go to support Brittany’s Hope, a nonprofit that helps children with special needs get adopted. As someone that works in marketing for nonprofits, this was very special to me.

But more so then just wanting the day to be pretty, we wanted it to be filled with love and for it to be an entertaining celebration for our family and friends throughout the entire day (not just the dancing at the reception).

We welcomed our guests with cool beverages, surprised them with the horse drawn carriage, had fun games to play during cocktail hour and they could even pet the horses, steer and roaming donkeys.

Also, to keep the dinner entertaining and interactive our DJ did “Sing for a Kiss” in which each table could get up and sing a fun song to Stephen and I. It was a blast!

It kept everyone entertained during dinner and people were even up dancing before the dance floor officially opened.

Overall, we just wanted to have fun and celebrate our love with our favorite people. I am sure everyone says this (which they should!) but it was the best day of our lives.

Favourite Moments

I think the entire day was very much Stephen and I.

But I have to say that the “Sing for a Kiss” was one of my favorite parts. Like I mentioned, I have been to my fair share of weddings both as a guest and wedding planner and I have never seen this done before.

From experience, I know guests can get a little antsy for the dance floor after sitting through a ceremony and then dinner so this was such a fun way for people to bust out of their shells during dinner and to keep the mood fun and entertaining.

As for my favorite personal moment; I believe in signs and I have always associated butterflies with my grandmas. I was very close with both of them and unfortunately both of them have passed on.

It was hard for me that neither of them would be there for my special day. However, right as I was getting into the carriage with my dad to head off to the ceremony, two white little butterflies danced around the carriage.

I knew right then and there that it was a sign from my grandmas; that they were certainly there with me in spirit.

The Photography

My photographer, Hay Alexandra, is a mutual friend. I have known her since college and had admired her work for the past six years (quite obsessively actually).

Choosing her was quite possibly the easiest decision I made during the entire wedding planning process.

She has such a talent at capturing special moments and also and making everyone feel at ease. She is simply the best.

Advice for Other Couples

Honestly, I know its cliché but the most important thing is just to have fun. At the end of the day, you are marrying your best friend in front of your closest family and friends.

If you remember that throughout the planning process it will help to keep everything in perspective.

And on the day off, just remembers to breathe and enjoy all of the little moments, because those are the ones that mean the most.
