Best of all, the photography is enchanting. Studio 1208 wowed us with their expansive, dreamy blue skies and etherial day-after portraits on the salt flats. We’re even spoiled with a fly-over view of the bride and groom walking along together, seriously swoon.

The whole weekend looked like an absolute blast, which is embodied in the bride’s super fun, fringe-tastic, white leather jacket. (We know, we want one too!)

The Dress

For our wedding day outfits, we didn’t have the venue specifically in mind. We really wanted to make it feel like us and our personal styles. However, I wore an off white gown with a light champagne colored tool wrap skirt and Ryan wore a navy suit with a white shirt and grey tie as did his groomsmen.

Our families stuck to a navy and grey color scheme and my Bridesmaid tribe (including my mother) wore white.

Special Moments

Ryan’s favorite moment was when I got out of the white jaguar that I drove down in to the ceremony site in, and walked down the aisle to the song he had written for me.

My favorite moment was the recessional, when we walked back down the aisle together as husband and wife. We walked past all our loved ones and the smiles and tears on their on their faces was so overwhelming that once we passed them Ryan and I couldn’t help but embrace each other and begin to sob. We couldn’t hold back the tears. We were so overcome with emotion of everything that led up to that moment and now being able to share it with our loved ones was something neither of us could handle.

The Photography

Nick and Maria of Studio 1208 have been in our lives longer than they know. I had been watching their wedding videos with one of my very close friends, Katie all through college. We would wake up after a long night out, lay in bed with our coffee and cry our eyes out.

A few years ago, our dear friends Willem and Brittany got married, and chose them to photograph and video their wedding. Ryan and I were hooked! So when the time came, we reached out to them and told them our story. Soon after, they announced they were going to have an Instagram contest, and we knew we were up for the challenge! Besides, we knew we wanted THEM and only THEM.

The day the winners were announced was a surprise. I remember sitting in my parent’s kitchen discussing wedding plans. After hours of laughter and tears we were getting ready to say our goodbyes and both our phones buzzed. We lunged for them, looked at what Nick and Maria had posted and started to scream! WE HAD WON!

Nick and Maria are fun, talented and just over all cool people, and now they are “our people.” They are friends for life with a little family love sprinkled in. They captured our love, our relationships with our family and friends, and the whole feel of the weekend perfectly. The overall wedding experience was that much better JUST by having them there. For this, we cannot thank them enough.

The Details

We found all of our vendors from Instagram and other sorts of social media, which is the way of the “wedding” world these days I guess. Our wedding aesthetic inspiration came from the prairie lands of Oklahoma. We love all the seasons and colors nature has to offer, and wanted it to feel as simple and from the Earth as possible. We chose off white as the base for everything, because what is a wedding without white? Then we tied in elements of green from the tall grasses, shades of beige from the hay bales, and tied blues and greys from the sky both night and day.

We wanted to keep our décor clean, simple and elegant, with a touch of prairie chic (official term, lol). We used long, wooden family-style tables with mix/matched vintage wooden kitchen chairs, and benches. We picked a lot of the wild flowers and grasses from the property itself, and formed a very natural feel for the day.

Advice to Other Couples

Take your time being engaged. Enjoy this stage, as it is a short one and I think people tend to skip over it a little. We were engaged for 2 years before the wedding and it was a time we completely cherish now. Then take your time in planning. Don’t rush it and become stressed or overwhelmed. This is supposed to be a fun process for the two of you to share.

And that being said, include your partner. I think brides tend to take control and the groom gets left out. Whether he seems interested in the process of not, it is still his day as well.

Instagram has a plethora of wedding knowledge and inspiration for the big day. We also used some of our extremely talented friends to help make the day so special. Specifically, our very good friend, Brittany De Ridder, who has a graphic design and creative studio, (and is an overall talented genius of a woman)!
