The Dreamiest Sunset Beach Wedding in Thailand

Beach wedding babes, are you ready for this? Today we have a gorgeous purple and pink sunset wedding all the way from the sandy beaches of Phuket, Thailand.

The bride, a wedding designer and expert herself put together the most relaxed, bare feet in the sand, beach wedding of our dreams!  Designing the invitations and even the gown herself, the whole evening looks seamlessly planned. The pale purple skies fell over the bridesmaids’ mismatched pastel gowns, and her two piece dress flutters in the wind so romantically.

We love the newspaper story programs and the little bit of advice to never forget the midnight snacks.  We agree – essential for all night partying down.

Our Love Story

Nothing romantic, we met four years ago in an electronic music club in Bangkok in a party with super loud but boring music. We’ve been together ever since.

However, the proposal was more romantic. Hallstadt had always been my dream destination. He took me there on a beautiful summer day. We rented a small private boat to drive on the lake, we stopped in the middle of the lake with the famous view of Hallstadt in our back. He started to talk about our relationship, which I didn’t hear a thing, as I already started to get too overwhelmed. Then he pulled out the ring with my favourite stone, champagne pink sapphire, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. How could I ever say no, right?

Crazy thing was, the proposal ring came with me all the way from Thailand. He planned it with my family, my sister ordered the ring, put it in a mouse box, and my dad gave the box to me telling it was a new computer mouse from my brother-in-law for my husband. I was completely fooled.

The Dress

Choosing a bridal gown was not easy, I ended up designing it myself, as it had to be something saying who I am. A white two-piece gown, not too serious nor perfect, with train and some lace to keep the feminine look.

For party, I changed into a crochet top with easier white skirt. It was also hard to decide the colour for my bridesmaid’s gowns. We ended up mixing the colours and styles a bit, which we turned out loving so much. They didn’t look all the same, instead, having individual design and colour for each dress.

The Venue

As the venue was at the beach, we decided to go for a bare foot wedding, no shoes, no platform, no stage, no dance floor. We kept the colour quite neutral; white, greens, with a dusty pink roses.

Flowers were designed to suit our theme, natural, relaxed, organic shapes with a little boho chic look. We let peonies play the main part, as it’s my favourite bloom. We chose I Am Flower, known to be the best florist in Phuket, to deliver our design into real life. Their work was amazing. It was beyond beautiful and said a lot about us.

We didn’t want the decoration to overshine the beauty of the nature. We also kept our wedding arch simple, as the Andaman sea was divine enough as our backdrop. We loved our guest book, there were sea shell disks hanging for the guests to sign, which we later put it as a décor at home. In return, we wrote our guests names on oyster shells to use them as place cards, and let our guests take them home as wedding favour and a reminder that they joined our beach wedding.

The Decor

We provided our guests a self-designed mini newspaper which includes our photos, stories, relationship timeline, interviews, order of service, and schedule of the day.

Instead of normal escort cards, we gave personal and individual thank you card to each of our guests. We got to express our love and how grateful we are to have them. We saw their eyes with tears and faces full of smiles. It was such a divine moment.

I work as a wedding designer, I see a lot of beautiful references everyday. But in the end, I asked myself, which style and details say the most and the best about “us.” Sometimes, things are beautiful, but if they say nothing about you, it doesn’t really mean a thing. Remember, it’s “your” day. I would strongly advice, choose style and things which are not just trendy, but also say something about you and your relationship. Trends come and go, your story will always be your story.

Favorite Moments

“Spontaneous” is what made our wedding so us. Spontaneous vows, speeches, and first dance. Nothing was rehearsed. But we love it that way, everything should be natural and real.

There were many moments and things we loved on our wedding day. Our guests reactions when they arrived and saw the wedding, our spontaneous personal vows, which we wrote in the morning of our wedding day, bridal procession with the song that says so much about our relationship “Latch” by Sam Smith, our so not so prepared first dance with the song that said how we feel toward each other and the best was “Stand by Me” by Florence and the Machine, when my husband did a sexy lap dance before he took out the garter, when our midnight snack arrived and everyone was running to take it. Everything was so memorable, thanks to all the vendors!

The Photography

We chose darinimages to capture actually both our pre-wedding shoot and our big day.

The reason why it had to be her, was because Darin has a great ability of capturing great moments with a lot of feelings, and those moments are one of the most important things for us. We also love that her photos look real and natural. We don’t like contrast-y photos, we prefer something soft and organic.

Darin also has a charming personality, working with her was very fun and relaxed. It was one of our best decision choosing her to be our photographer.

The Dinner

Food and drinks played a big part of our wedding day. Luckily, everyone loved them! We had cocktail during sunset together with canapes, dinner was a buffet of grilled seafood and meat, then again a proper midnight snack. We are happy that the guests had more than enough to eat and drink. It wouldn’t be good to let the guests starve or go thirsty.

Another thing that we got a lot of compliments from the guests was that our wedding had a very good schedule, the guests didn’t need to wait too long before the dinner started, not too many speeches, first dance happened at just the right time, and there was enough time to party properly. We really have to thank The Wedding Bliss team for keeping the schedule so well!

Advice for Other Couples

Choose a good wedding planner, and don’t worry about a thing. Try to be as relaxed as possible on your big day. Whatever happens, if you are happy, everyone else will also have a great time, it will also show on your photos and videos. And don’t forget a good midnight snack! Guests are always happy when they can bite on something delish after some hard moves and drinks.
