Mat and Jennifer’s London wedding has stolen my heart.

From the sweet ‘first look’ between the couple on the leafy streets of Hamstead to the bridesmaids in floral prints. Their choice of Town Hall venue ~ a red brick Victorian building with sweeping staircases to the dusky pink, DIY decor they filled it with. It’s all just so very gorgeous.

Lee of Robbins Photographic was there to capture their day with his rich, atmospheric photography. Couples in the UK tend not to to do ‘first look’ photos but Lee’s photos show just how fantastic a first look can be!

Over to Jennifer with her charming write up of their wedding:

It was a wonderful day: romantic, emotional and so much fun.  We hired ourselves as wedding planners, so couldn’t help but put a personal touch on the day!  It slowly morphed from being ‘how difficult can it be to plan a party?’ into a real labour of love; but it was wonderful to really think about what we wanted the day to be and whip it into shape.  And of course our very special friends and family worked wonders with table settings, truffles, the amazing wedding cake and hair duties…

I wore a long strapless off-white dress –fitted but with lace and chiffon layers that floated around a little.  I struggled a bit to choose between simple and sophisticated and cutesy romantic and still hadn’t worked it out two weeks before the wedding.  The dress was a late-entry and turned out to be a bit of all of the above; plus it was super comfortable, which meant I loved it!  Mat wore a lovely grey/brown single-breasted suit – he looked very handsome.

Our mums gave readings during the ceremony, which is one way to smudge your makeup early.  We had a civil ceremony, but also added some cultural references during the reception.

The bridesmaids wore dusky pink tea-dresses with a black flower pattern and looked very pretty indeed. They carried the unusually coloured Amnesia roses (happily they can still remember the day), which Mat had once brought home for me and coincidentally completely matched their dresses.  I had some simple and gorgeous Cezanne roses.  The boys had flowers to match.

Come back tomorrow for Part 2,  the reception ~ it’s a pom pom and flower filled extravaganza!
