These high-school sweethearts planned a magical Swedish island wedding

Sofia and Jimmy described their Swedish island wedding as a “cozy, relaxed, party” and what more could you expect than an effortless, comfortable celebration from a couple of high-school sweethearts?

Set in the Stockholm archipelago, this organic, boho wedding was like a Scandinavian fairy tale: tall wooded forests, quaint seaside docks, moody atmospheric colors and endless natural beauty. The couple made the most of all these qualities by bringing in everything wild, including fresh greenery and white flowers in a bohemian bridal braid.

And to highlight the natural surroundings into the night, Sofia and Jimmy took great attention to detail with their lighting scheme. The couple hung plenty of string lights from trees and the pier to lead guests out into the wilderness comfortably into the night. We can only imagine how beautiful the stars must have been!

Our Love Story

We met when we were really young, sixteen years year old, at a party of a common friend. During those teenage years, our relationship went through many twists and turns, but we managed to get through all of it and it has made us a strong couple.

During a long trip through New Zealand, at the end of a day filled with adventures, among others skydiving, we went to a small private stone beach to relax – and Jimmy proposed. I was in total shock and at first, I just asked “what are you doing?” but when I realized, of course, I said “YES!”

The Destination & Style

We choose Muskö, an island in the archipelago of Stockholm, where Jimmy’s family’s country house is. This is a place where we have spent a lot of time together and it was perfect for us to be outside and not have a church wedding. The theme was quite natural, mostly white flowers with greenery. Another thing that was important was the lighting; to make the evening feel cozy we had lots of lights in the trees and around the pier.

Favorite Moments

There were many things during the ceremony that made this day special to us, the fact that it was held on Muskö, this island where we have spent so much time, that our friend was the one holding the ceremony, and the music.

One song was dedicated to Sofia’s mother who passed away, another song was the theme song from the show “Friends”, a series we both love. We really like to party and it was important to us that everyone had a great time, and that was really how it turned out, the guests were on the dance floor all night long.

We have seen many of Sara’s photos before and we’ve always liked them. The communication with her was easy and everything was relaxed.

Advice to Other Couples

Make sure that you save enough of money; you really don’t want to have to start making compromises for this day. Think about what’s most important for you and put most emphasizes there.

The Honeymoon

We went for a calm week of vacations to Cape Verde, we choose a “grownup hotel “ with all-inclusive, to just relax and have sun. There were not much of adventures going on there.
