Industrial Chic Brooklyn Winery Wedding

Industrial Chic Brooklyn Winery Wedding – Williamsburg Photo Studios 12

I am so excited to spread a little ‘hometown love’ today by sharing this Brooklyn Winery wedding, just a few steps away from my own (former) abode. Shared with us by local photographers Williamsburg Photo Studios – this industrial chic wedding gives us a little homesickness from our honeymoon across the globe.

Jacqueline & George chose the Brooklyn Winery for its rustic yet classy charm. Offering local craft wine (beer & whiskey!), vintage vibes & a whole lotta of modern industrial vibes – it’s quintessentially ‘Brooklyn’. Steel wine barrels are softened by lush florals, wild greenery and warm wooden furnishings, the space is warm, inviting, modern & cool.

Having been in attendance & photographed a few weddings at the quintessential Brooklyn venue myself, it is always a delight to see what couples do to make this iconic venue their own. In this beautiful day, the venue came alive with a live band and the flowers were immensely personal – with four-leaf clovers added for our chic Irish bride.

Our Love Story

I met George when my best friend starting working with him. I found myself head over heels after the first time we met!

George blew me away with the proposal! He told me we were going out for a friend’s parents’ surprise anniversary party on a Sunday afternoon. He had the friend involved, who confirmed the date, time and location of his “parent’s surprise party”.

When we arrived, we were greeted and told everyone was hiding in the back, waiting on the couple to arrive. We made our way into the back and there was a group of people gathered for the surprise party – only they were gathered for OUR SURPRISE PARTY! George had also flown my parents, my sisters, aunt and cousin over from Ireland to be there. Everyone I knew and loved was in that room. I was absolutely SHELL SHOCKED.

After all the hugs, kisses and tears from my immediate family who I hadn’t seen in almost a year, George pulled me to the center of the room, got down on one knee and pulled out the ring box. I said yes! And, on the cue, a marching band entered the room playing our favorite song – “I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. That surprised everybody and went down a treat. It was a day and evening I will forever love and treasure.

The Dress & Attire

My dress was bought in Ireland, shopping with my Mum and sisters. My Mum actually picked out my wedding dress! As soon as I put it on, I knew it was for me. A unique boho-inspired gown with geometric beadwork detail from top to toe with a high neck illusion bodice and matching illusion back – and totally within my budget. It was perfect.

George wore his favorite, J Crew Suit Shop. Navy blue, with a baby blue shirt, navy blue & pink flowered tie, blush pink handkerchief, and brown double monk strap shoes.

The Venue & Style

Our wedding style was a reflection of us as a couple. We love everything and anything rustic, chic with a touch of class. Which is exactly what Brooklyn Winery offers in a beautifully modern yet urban space.

Our colors were easy, we loved navy for the guys in the bridal party and rustic pink for the girls. Our flowers were beautifully tied into our vision by experts Jay & Al (highly recommend) from Fleurs Du Mois, who created a soft yet rustic look throughout the venue and bridal party, using whites, creams, blush, and leafy greens, tall taper candles, antique candle handle holders and bud cases. It brought our vision together better than we had even imagined.

Favorite Moments

That’s a tough one – the whole day, from start to finish was magical. However, our ceremony was definitely a highlight. We had the most brilliant officiant, Christopher Shelley, and he delivered the most wonderful ceremony telling our story in great detail, pleasing everyone. He had prior asked us to fill out questionnaires about each other, four pages long! So there was a lot of information delivered, making it very personal and had guests asking if we had known him for years – that was lovely and very special to us.

Also, the speeches, the food, the cake cutting, the dancing, it was all so much fun! It really was the perfect day, one big party celebrating our love for each other with all our family and friends.

The Flowers

They were fabulous! Our color scheme was white, cream, blush pink, and greens. We selected soft blush roses, white roses, cream hydrangeas, thistles, and green eucalyptus as fillers. They turned out so beautiful. As I am originally from Ireland, it’s a good luck tradition to add shamrocks to the bride’s bouquet, so our florists added some four-leaf clovers for me, which was a special touch.

The Music

Someone told up in the lead-up and planning of the wedding that guests will remember two things: how good the food was, and the music. And, it’s true, the food and music shaped our wedding day. People still tell us how great the food was, and how AMAZING our wedding band was.

We decided to skip on the DJ at our after party and just make our own playlists, which was one of best ideas – nobody realized and everyone had a ball dancing the night away.

The Cake

It was delicious. By Pensa was another fantastic vendor find. Such a sweet girl, who creates sweet magic in her kitchen. We went for a semi-naked cake to fit the rustic theme. It was a sponge cake with champagne buttercream filling, with raspberry preserve. Everyone wanted seconds! And, our florists were so kind as to add a few flowers to decorate it to fit our theme.

The Favors

The Brooklyn Winery lets you create your own personalized wine label with them. So we used their wine as both the favors and as our seating chart. We had personalized name and table number tags created to hang around each bottle of wine. Guests would find their name, it stated their table and seat number, and got to take the wine. It was a cool idea, and very fitting for a winery.

Advice to Other Couples

Have fun! We loved planning our wedding. Give yourselves enough time to enjoy the planning process. Don’t put yourselves under any unnecessary pressure. Please yourselves. It’s your day. Enjoy it all.

The Honeymoon

We were so lucky to take a long honeymoon – five weeks long! We started off with a weekend in London, flew to Santorini (the magical Greek island) for six nights, hopped on over to Sicily (where George’s grandparents originally came from). From there we went to the Amalfi Coast (STUNNING), on to Rome, Venice, Ireland (to see a few family members that didn’t make it to New York for the wedding, MY NANA!) And, our final destination was Iceland, it’s so cool – literally!
