As a beach bride myself (hey, girl hey!) I have a certain special love for destination weddings. Give me white sand beaches, waving palms, coconut cocktails & a midnight dip under the stars.

So whenever we’re introduced to a swanky beach wedding venue fit for our beloved Bridal Musings readers, we can’t help but jump at the chance to share! How We Would Plan Our Dream Wedding

So what would our Bridal Musings dream wedding weekend look like?

Arriving early in our wedding week, we’d post up in the oceanfront Governor Suite, and work on our beachy glow at the hotel’s Iridium Spa. All over skin scrub (you know, for that super low-back wedding dress we’ve chosen) massage & facial, please!

Lovers of an intimate affair, we’d say “I do” at late afternoon in the seductive wedding pavilion amongst the banana trees & tropical palms. We love the idea of placing whole coconuts on each guests’ seat to keep hydrated as the ceremony begins.

Leading our nearest and dearest toward the ocean waves, we’d be greeted by Mai Tai cocktails and share the first dance under the waving palms as the sunsets. We imagine the charming staff passing around tropical seafood delights like tuna crudo and coconut crab cakes before sitting down to a dinner of fresh fish & a whole roasted pig over a fire spit. Can we just keep the theme going with a mile-high coconut cake?

A champagne toast (where yes, we’d saber the bottle!) would kick off a night of dancing mixing all of our favorite hip hop hits with Caribbean vibes. We’d keep the party going with a Caribbean beignet station (hallelujah that’s a thing!) and ‘Media Noche’ sandwiches.

What To Do In Puerto Rico

Before & after your ‘I do’s’ you’ll have plenty to do! Not only is the island surrounded by beautiful beaches, but there are also a number of inland excursions & tantalizing cuisine to take part in. Let’s chat about a few of our favorites:

El Yunque National Forest – Ride horseback through tropical rainforests with your crew to idyllic swimming holes below some of Puerto Rico’s most majestic waterfalls. With help from St. Regis’ concierge, the biologists from Bahia Beach foundation named Alma de Bahia (Soul of Bahia) will guide you on an exclusive tour to El Yunque. Be sure to keep an eye out for ancient petroglyphs, made by the indigenous Taíno people.
Old San Juan – If colonial architecture, art & history are your thing, get a taste of old-world Europe strolling the beautiful streets of Old San Juan. We can imagine some pretty stunning newlywed photoshoots amongst the cathedrals and grand structures throughout town.
Vieques – If ocean exploration is more your thing (and there’s plenty of ocean to explore!) take a boat trip to the island of Vieques where you’ll visit the Bioluminescent Bay, beautiful beaches and snorkel with some of the most unique sea creatures in the Caribbean.
