Why You Should Elope In The Italian Alps

Dolomites Elopement

We love elopements. Running away to some private, enchanted mountaintop or colorful canyon to share the most magical “I do’s” with the love of your life.

As certain destinations become particularly popular (hello, Icelandic brides & grooms!) we do our best to inspire runaway brides & grooms of new gorgeous places where their private nuptials stay…private! That means highlighting secret, lesser-known but just as gorgeous destinations like the Dolomites in the Italian Alps.

If you’re looking for a majestic mountaintop in Europe that isn’t crawling with backpackers, tour buses & other couples (yet) we are all on board with a Dolomiti elopement.

Imagine snowcapped jagged peaks, lush pine forests, pastures of sheep & pretty chalets – the Dolomites have all that neighboring Switzerland has to offer plus a little Italian flair (yes, Italian food & wine!) Best of all, it’s a little-explored region for mainstream travelers, keeping your elopement private and wholly unique.

Sent to us by Italian photographer Serena Genovese, this Dolomite elopement inspiration features a venue that we are dying to visit. Adding to the Alpine drama, Hotel Pfoesl‘s bold Scandinavian style & gorgeous views remind us of the most popular Icelandic elopements of the last decade. Making this old-world destination seem ultra-modern.

Sara and Matteo have chosen the Italian Alps as a destination to tie the knot, a destination that is becoming increasingly popular for those who want to be different, for those who love nature and wish to celebrate their wedding surrounded by this environment.

The sunlight, on that autumn day that is brighter than ever, shines on vaguely lunar floral compositions, enriched by plant plumage and references to wood and trees: the symbolic ceremony was so romantic and intimate to give us emotions, smiles and make our hearts race, it was so beautiful that it seemed to echo in the mountains.

Sara and Matteo decided to dare even more: match the choice of a unique destination such as the Dolomites with an accommodation that has a very international design and that has turned style into its strong point. Far from the local stereotypes, the Pfsol Hotel was immediately chosen as the frame of the love between Sara and Matteo.

Unconventional like them, the location was part of their story: contrasts of lights and colors, green spaces and chalet suites to get dressed, a room overlooking the autumn as a venue for their reception. Everything was enriched by a romantic but determined style that characterized the outfit of the couple and by a floral design the mix and match of which brought the elopement to another level of style and personalization.

“The result was a unique event, where magic and enchantment became as tangible as a gust of wind that, suddenly, gave life to the wedding dress of the bride.”
