Welcome to South Bohemia – charming rolling hills in the countryside of the Czech Republic – the setting for today’s utterly romantic, woodsy wedding filled with DIY details.

Eliska & David wanted a wedding that not only felt natural & pleasant for all of their guests, but was literally surrounded by nature, as well. For this, they chose an untraditional venue Schwarzenberská lesovna Jaronín which featured whimsical forests, rustic grounds and a gorgeous view for their wedding ceremony.

Their stunning location, however, had never hosted a wedding before so the couple took all the planning & decor into their own hands (and you’d never believe they did it all themselves!) Decorating the space with bundles of flowers in deep, moody colors & letting streamers of ribbon flow in the late summer wind, they pulled their DIY wedding off without a hitch in such a romantic & whimsical manner.

Our Love Story

It’s big love from high school! I and David have met at our high school where we were attending the same class. We both still remember the moment when we met for the very first time.

Our engagement story is very simple but all the more beautiful and personal. We went for dinner, which was quite common for us. In the middle of the dinner, David has disappeared and come back with a bouquet of peonies. I didn’t find it suspicious because he gives me flowers pretty often.

After dinner, we went for a walk through the magnificent night in Prague and David took me to the park Petřínské sady, where is one of the loveliest views of Prague and he asked me to marry him.

The Dress & Attire

My idea about my wedding dress was completely different because I wanted a very simple and flowing dress. Then I tried a breathtaking dress called Lovia by Rara Avis, and I immediately fell in love!

As David doesn’t like shopping, he has leaned on his friend, who is a shopping assistant in a traditional classic Czech wears shop. His friend did his job perfectly and composed David’s outfit to the very last detail.

I was wearing a family heirloom necklace of my great-grandmother, which was secretly hidden in the chimney and nobody knew about it for years. The neckless was in terrible condition, and my mom brought it to life again.

The Venue & Decor

Our biggest dream was to have an open-air wedding which would take place in the middle of nature. The vision was to decorate the venue quite clearly – mostly with flowers, candles, lights and cushions. Choosing the right colours was very simple because we love deep and dark shades.

Flowers are never enough! Our bouquets and floral decorations were designed to rich and dark autumn colours, and flowers were a significant part of the decoration. Classic bouquets and corsages were arranged by a florist the rest of floral decoration was in our guidance.

Favorite Moments

Our emotive ceremony with an exceptional view accompanied by our loved ones and goldie Frida who was standing beside us is an unforgettable memory. During our wedding promises, we have made a few overrides that were in the end quite cute and funny.

Important Details

The most significant thing for both of us was to create a day that was entirely natural, relaxed and pleasant for every single guest. That was the essential criteria during our wedding planning. Beyond this was to find a perfect venue and soulmate photographer, and we were so lucky to meet marvelous Karolina and find an outstanding venue.

The Cakes

My dream was to have a black wedding cake, which was not fully supported by David. Therefore we decided to have three separate cakes with different designs and flavours, that would be overall in harmony.

DIY Details

Our entire wedding day was kind of DIY or self-prepared. All the wedding preparation, designing, planning and managing were in our own hands. We even prepared the wedding graphics ourselves, as well.

Advice to Other Couples

Trust your feelings and heart. There are a lot of things you can easily manage by yourself. If you imagine your wedding in a certain way, go for it because in the end it will be only your day!
