The Sweetest Backyard Wedding Featuring Some Impressive DIYs

Janey & Eric

Ready for some seriously impressive DIYs?

Marrying under the tree in which they were engaged, Janey & Eric’s backyard wedding is filled to the brim with creative details, personal touches and features one of the most amazing DIY altars to date…

As many of us do-it-yourself brides & grooms know, it takes a lot of help from family and friends to pull off so many personal, handmade wedding-day decor & details. Janey & Eric were spoiled with help from an incredible team of talent!

From the cake, to the florals to the incredible wooden altar that towered over their ceremony aisle (made by the bride’s dad!) – their wedding-day was filled with creations by their nearest & dearest.

Our Love Story

We’ve been friends forever!

We got engaged right under the tree we got married under. Eric and I inherited his family’s property which included along with the house and barn, a 10-acre gorgeous field with that tree in the back right corner.

I thought nothing of him working tirelessly in the field the weeks before we got engaged, and August 24th he told me he was taking me to dinner at my favorite restaurant and before leaving he let me know he’d like me to see his “progress” he’s making in the field.

He had cleared out the most perfect little spot under the tree and had decorated all throughout. He proposed to me with the most beautiful family diamond.

The Ceremony

I wanted the ceremony to be rustic with light pinks and whites, I figured the tree and arbor my Dad made spoke for itself and didn’t need too much dressing up. I wanted the ceremony to be bright and fun while balancing both Eric and I’s personalities. A little country and a little glam.

The Dress & Attire

I wanted to let my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses, just maintain blush shades and they did incredibly! It was important to me to make them comfortable and beautiful in what they wore. It worked out beautifully. The groom & groomsmen wests were custommade by Men’s Warehouse.

Favorite Moments

Once we sat down at our head table there was a moment where we both just looked around and had an overwhelming moment of how grateful we were to have all our family and friends with us. You could feel the love in that tent, which is truly magical when it hits you. All the hard work pays off.
