Is there a more fitting color palette for a rustic Tuscan wedding than shades of olive green? While we’re happy to entertain creative answers, we think it’s truly hard to beat this natural match.

Shannon & Abe, international jet-setters, locals to Dubai & lovers of the Italian countryside (aren’t we all?) celebrated all things Tuscan at their Villa la Fontanelle destination wedding. A classic cathedral ceremony, a traditional millefoglie wedding cake, an adorable gelato cart & of course olive tree branches & complementary greenery decorated throughout by Flowers Living (whose weddings are featured regularly on the blog!), the scene represented everything we love about Tuscany.

Our Love Story

Abe and I met in high school we were best friends for about three years before we started dating.

He proposed to me on top of a beautiful hill in Scotland called Arthur’s Seat. Although we live in Dubai, he made sure to propose to me in Scotland so I would have all my family around to celebrate with me after the proposal which was so thoughtful. He also pretended to take a picture but actually set up his camera to record, so he recorded the whole thing so we have it as a memory which is beautiful.

The Destination & Venue

When we went to see different venues Villa le Fontanelle was the last place we visited and as soon as we arrived at the venue there was no question that it was the perfect venue for us. The venue is literally a dream, it has such beautiful features that when you walk in it already feels like a wedding venue without any décor even being added. I always wanted a rustic wedding with live music and as soon as we arrived there we could see that no other venue would compare to it.

The Ceremony Venue

To add to the already perfect venue we were so lucky to be able to get married in a church with such historical significance and the church was so accommodating and kind with helping us to arrange everything for the day. The day was completely magical from start to finish from the live music to the fairy lights above the table to the flowers it was all perfect.

Favorite Moments

My favorite moment was probably walking down the aisle to see Abe and just that overwhelming feeling of seeing him at the end of the aisle.

The speeches we had from all our family were another overwhelming moment that made us both feel so filled with love. The unique thing about our wedding was the mixture of nationalities and countries that people had travelled from to be there and then the beautiful Italian views and cultures that we were able to incorporate and share with our guests made it the perfect melting pot of different cultures and experiences which is so reflective of me and Abe who have grown up as ex-pat children living in Saudi Arabia but with Scottish and middle eastern roots.

The Photography & Videography

Our photographer was such an easy choice we loved how natural all their photos were, Abe and I are not good with getting our pictures taken and our photographers and videographer made us feel so at ease. Mary and Maurizio were so kind and when we received our pictures we could not believe how many beautiful and natural pictures we had. Matteo was great at marking sure to capture all the moments without being noticed by guests.

Advice to Other Couples

Choose a planner that you are comfortable with and puts you at ease. Planning can be very stressful especially for a destination wedding so make sure that your planner is someone who can help relieve that stress.

For brides and bridesmaids, I would say get ready as early as possible so you can really relax and enjoy some time before the wedding to take pictures and just relax.

Your photographer is so important, so spend a lot of time making sure you have the right one.

Always expect to spend more than your budget!

The Honeymoon Plans

Because we had a destination wedding, we decided not to do a honeymoon right after but instead to take one for our one year anniversary because it would give us something to look forward to and to save up for after the wedding.
