Today’s real wedding shows off another reason why Texas is wedding-planning-heaven: Knotting Hill Place. It’s true that everything is bigger in Texas (a fact that my Houstonian husband makes sure I understand) and this European-style estate certainly got the memo. Grand, opulent & elegant, the gorgeous venue was the perfect backdrop for Soojin & Suk’s traditional Spring wedding.

Honoring their Korean heritage & keeping things lush & gorgeous, their wedding day was both old-world inspired and true to their personal style.

Soojin and Suk wanted their day to feel effortlessly romantic and full of organic details. Naturally, we chose a color palette of soft blushes, pale greens, warm ivory and golden tan. Thoughts of old-world Europe swirled in our minds as we were designing and we wanted the romantic spirit of the French countryside or warm Tuscan afternoons to come through.

Getting Ready

One of my favorite memories of the day was watching the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride assist Soojin in getting ready for her walk down the aisle. You could tell that every woman in the room was incredibly special to the bride and there was a beautifully serene atmosphere. Soojin stunned in her large, tulle ballgown and couldn’t wait to show her guests that the dress was actually two-in-one! After the ceremony, Soojin could remove that stunning skirt to reveal a more form-fitting lace gown that’s much more dance floor friendly.

The Venue

The venue Soojin and Suk chose was the newly opened Knotting Hill Place in Little Elm, Texas. A stately mansion with a European elegance was the perfect backdrop for the couple’s spring wedding. Olive Grove Design created a lush garden of florals throughout the venue. Sprawling greenery and lush blooms made the romance fly through the air like the perfumed smell wafting off the arrangements.

Cultural Traditions

The couple’s family and cultural traditions were very important to them. Although they wanted a traditionally western ceremony, they chose to honor their heritage by donning traditional Korean wedding attire, honoring their parents during the ceremony, and providing a translator for the wedding message. During the reception the newlyweds went to each table to personally thank their family and friends for being there for them as they grew in love and now as they start their new journey as husband and wife.

The Decor

The couple is also very traditional so we tried to make all of our decisions with an heirloom, timeless point of view. The neutral linens allowed the florals and dark, sprawling greenery to stand out. The walls of Knotting Hill Place reflect late Texas afternoon light so dreamy and added to the romantic atmosphere. The flowers were chosen meticulously to create subtle beauty and make it look like they were plucked from the estate’s own garden.
