We might as well call Summer 2020 our “Virtual Summer in Portugal” with all the gorgeous Portuguese wedding inspiration we’ve been receiving.

And while we may have featured a number of weddings on the Iberian coast, they’re all so different from each other! Take today’s inspiration, for example, this very modern, bold red Hindu wedding on the cliffs of Arriba is a world away from the old-world same-sex palace wedding or the multi-cultural Chinese destination wedding in the hills of Algarve last month.

We’re in love with the dashing red tones in Varun & Nital’s ceremony-wear & reception decor, but also just as inspiring is their contrasting deep blue looks for their sunset portraits by Portugal Wedding Photographer.

Our Love Story

It all started at University when Nital and her curly hair caught Varun’s eye. Many exchanges of the odd stare and smile over time grew into becoming Facebook friends.

Seven years past and then Varun decided to reach out to Nital which led to their first date in Windsor.

During a volunteering trip at a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa, in between walking with Elephants and feeding the lions, Varun decided to organise an excursion as a surprise. He took Nital on a private hot air balloon and proposed to her, 7,000 feet in the air, just so she wouldn’t say no!

The Destination & Style

Varun and Nital always knew they wanted an intimate wedding, close friends and family, in a warm location with spectacular views. After months of research, they came across the Aribba by the Sea venue which took their breath away and they knew it was perfect for them.

They knew their style would be modern and minimalistic with splashes of colour. Indian weddings are typically very colourful and we wanted to introduce the royal red colour against the sea view backdrop.

The Dress & Attire

Nital went on many shopping trips to select her outfit, she wanted something that was traditional but different and also an outfit that would keep her comfortable in the heat. She chose a luxurious red outfit with gold detail.

Varun selected his outfit from the first store he went to. It was an easy choice as he based his selection on Nital’s attire. He chose a red silk velvet with hints of gold.

Favorite Moments

Seeing each other for the first time on the wedding day was one of the most special moments for us that we will never forget.

The wedding reception party was unbelievable. Friends and family still to this day reminisce and tell us it was the best wedding celebration they have attended.

Varun and his cousins surprised all guests with an electrifying dance to the sound of MJ, Bruno Mars and some hip hop classics.

We also loved the morning and evening photoshoots. Our photographer made us feel comfortable enough to express our inner vogue.

Location location location, a great wedding planner and an expert photographer to capture the memories. We knew when planning an abroad wedding, we will need all the help we can get. The team in Portugal was amazing and we could not have pulled it off without them.
