Yesterday, I asked my hubby “If you had all the money in the world, where would you want our vacation house?” Jack answered, “I’d do the George Clooney thing.” That meaning, long, delicious summers on the edge of Lake Como.
As part of our yearlong honeymoon last year, Jack and I made a last-minute ten-day escape to a tiny village high above Lake Como. We ate pounds of Proscuitto, drank a life’s worth of Nebbiolo, and spend afternoons sunning on a secret lakeside beach – it was exceptionally romantic. I absolutely understand now why so many couples are rushing to the villas that dot the lake’s edge to get married.
Today we’re sharing a wedding that exudes so much of that romance we felt. Emanuela and Mattia’s wedding features so much old world rustic charm & cinematic drama (thanks to Margherita Calati‘s photos) – you half expect to see George & Amal arriving in their own lake speedboat to the reception.

The Destination
It was a memorable day. We wanted just our families and closest friends with us to celebrate. It was really intimate, emotional and romantic. We promised ourselves eternal love and we had a lot of fun.
We got married in Como, in the center, in the church of San Fedele. Afterward, we reached the venue by boat and celebrated at Villa Regina Teodolinda. It was magical.
The Planning
I had never thought that I would have asked a wedding planner to organize my own wedding, but with Elena, it just happened. From the very beginning, I felt understood and we got along very smoothly. It was like we had always known each other. She is very professional in what she does.
We would choose all these great professionals a thousand times again for their amazing work, talent and availability. We will always be thankful for what they have done to make the day of our wedding the most unforgettable of our lives.
All of it. The atmosphere, emotions, happiness, love…it was in the air and you could breathe it.
