As a former Mexico bride, I love fruit – particularly citrus – as wedding decor.
Not only does it add color and a zesty burst of life to your tables & reception space but it creates volume, making the scene look complete. When Jack & I opted to just forage for florals & palms around our venue rather than buy any flowers, it was the fruit decor that filled in the gaps.
And beyond the textural boost & splashes of color you’ll gain, purchasing citrus is so much friendlier on your wallet than the number of flowers and decor you’d need to fill that amount of space. Purchase a couple of boxes of citrus, alternate featuring them whole & halved (so you can see the beautiful insides!) and you’ve got yourself a $20 – $40 steal in the wedding decor department.
Then, of course, you’ll need to save a few lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruit – or hey, maybe kumquats – whatever fruit you’ve chosen for your cake. Slice them thin to place along the sides or even dehydrate or candy them for the perfect edible cake decoration.
Wondering how this might fit into your moodier, Fall-wedding theme? Try blood oranges!
