Inspired by the whimsy florals of the 2013 film, The Great Gatsby and the modern interiors of Manhattan’s elite lounges, this styled photoshoot captures romantic touches in a modern, sophisticated way. We wanted to bring touches of vintage elements such as beautiful ceramics and glassware mixed in with the modern architecture of the building and art deco-inspired lighting.

Soft beauty touches, extravagant fashion, and dainty jewellery brought life to the representation of a modern woman from the art deco period. The bride’s bouquet was small enough to not overwhelm the beautiful lilac gowns. It was full of purple tones, wild dancing flowers and complimented the tablescape. The tulle gown was a two-piece in lavender with lots of volume and layers. Her second gown was made of silk organza featuring watercolour florals.

She wore delicately crafted heirloom accessories, and a vintage, art deco-inspired engagement ring with an emerald cut diamond. Hair and makeup was simple; a low chignon with loose curls and a wild, unstructured floral headpiece. For her second look, she had flowers woven through her hair as if they’ve been there forever. Makeup was supple skin, rosy cheeks, a sun-kissed glow and deep rose-bitten lips while the eyes were a smoked out purple cat-eye. Nails were a modern french manicure.

The setting was meant to take inspiration from the art deco period and to soften it with garden-like florals and romantic purple tones. We wanted to honour the modern elements from this period with stationery styles, jewelry and architecture. All of these details came together in a romantic and fresh way for the modern bride who is looking for an artful approach to wedding design.
