Chic Cinematic Wedding Inspiration Filled with Satin Bows & Romantic Candlelight

Findon Place

There’s something quite magical about a British country house wedding isn’t there? Especially when held at a venue like Findon Place, which transforms into the perfect spot for a wedding that mixes timeless charm with a sleek modern twist. The Planning Suite nailed it with the setup, and Kerry Ann Duffy’s photos capture every stunning detail.

This shoot took a leaf out of old Hollywood’s book, bringing that mysterious, glamorous vibe right into the English countryside. Inspired by ‘Saltburn,’ the drama of light and shadow was something we couldn’t get enough of. And let’s talk about that cake by Anna Lewis Cake Design – an utter masterpiece.

With Josephine Scott London’s chic gowns and the soft candlelight setting the mood, the whole day felt like a scene from a classic film we’ve always loved.

From the Planner

In the midst of a dark and rainy day, the heavens fell upon the lush English countryside, we embarked on a photographic journey that embraced day and night with mystery and intrigue.

Inspired by the enigmatic charm of the English countryside with a seductive hint of old Hollywood cinema, our editorial sought to reimagine tradition through a lens of sophistication and daring elegance.

Sheltered from the elements within the confines of the quintessentially English Findon Place, amidst the flickering glow of candlelight and the rhythmic patter of raindrops against the windows, our bride and groom emerged as the protagonists of their own cinematic saga.

The bride, a vision of ethereal beauty wore a wedding gown that epitomised effortless glamour, her every movement embraced the whimsicality of the day. The look was complimented with playful accessories and delicate details. Beside her, in his tailored attire stood her groom, providing charm and sophistication.

As the day transitioned into evening, the atmosphere shifted creating darkness and mystery. Drawing a touch of inspiration from the haunting beauty of the film “Saltburn,” we worked with light and haze to create a dramatic atmosphere. An impressive screen filled the space illuminated by the flickering glow of projected images, each frame a testament to the power of storytelling. Against this mesmerising backdrop, we transport you into a realm where dreams and reality intertwine, where the line between light and shadow blurs.

Black, white, and green emerged as the guiding elements of our narrative, a collection of colours that showcases the perfect blend of darkness and elegance. Like characters in a classic film noir, our bride and groom embraced their stunning surroundings. In essence, our styled photoshoot was a celebration of beauty, splendour and the power of imagination. A cinematic escape from the moody English countryside, where every frame captured a moment of allure and glamour.

From the Photographer

Using my medium format Fuji camera was a deliberate choice, aiming to capture an expansive dynamic range while infusing the images with a dreamy, film-like quality that I cherish in my work.

Fashion has always been the cornerstone of my photography, igniting my creative spark. Consequently, the choice of dresses played a pivotal role in shaping the essence of our shoot.

Both of us had been deeply moved by the film “Saltburn.” Rather than adopting a themed approach, we sought to imbue our shoot with the film’s evocative ambiance. This was subtly reflected in our use of projections, which allowed us to integrate the cinematic experience into a wedding setting. The idea of showcasing the couple’s images on a screen for their guests was a concept we were particularly excited about.

A carefully curated playlist was a constant companion throughout the day, reinforcing the mood we aimed to capture. As evening descended, the volume soared, transforming the atmosphere into a lively celebration. This, in my opinion, contributed to the authenticity of the images, lending them an organic vibrancy.

The seamless execution of the projections and the atmospheric haze was a testament to the skill and dedication of our production team. Their contribution was invaluable, bringing our collective vision to fruition.

On the technical side, I encountered some challenges with lighting, experiencing flickering and color shifts upon shutter actuation. However, with perseverance and adaptation, we managed to achieve the desired outcome, mirroring our initial visualization. Witnessing Rianna’s vision materialize was truly awe-inspiring for me.

Choosing Findon as our venue was a deliberate decision, perfectly aligning with the aesthetic we envisioned. Its weather-resistant nature proved to be a blessing, given that we were confined indoors due to the unpredictable British weather – a testament to the age-old saying!

One of the highlights for me was the evening segment. With the music pulsating in the background and everyone letting loose, the atmosphere was electric. The spontaneous high-fashion shots towards the end were a photographer’s dream. Such shoots are particularly rewarding for me, offering the creative freedom often restricted by the tight schedules of wedding days.
