So, as you may or may not know, it's the Centenary of International Women's Day today and Clare and Asling from Any Other Wedding and Angie from One Cat Per Person decided to celebrate with a day full of posts from a bunch of inspirational bloggers.

I was beyond flattered when they asked little ol' me to be involved and more than a little nervous about what to write {those ladies are wordsmiths I tell you!} and me, well, I'm only new to this blogging malarky. But after lots of ‘scrunching it up and throwing it in the bin' moments I managed to cobble together some of my musings on why I'm proud to be a woman. You can read it here. And, as always, your comments mean so much to me! {hint hint!}

There are some great things going on all around the world to raise awareness so do check out the official International Women's Day website here. Or why not take a look at the ActionAid website to hear real women's stories and struggles in their ‘Get Lippy Campaign'. Here's a video of some of the female celebrities who are backing this inspirational campaign and getting really rather lippy:

Don't you just love Kathy Burke?!

And here's a few outrageously sexist adverts from years gone by which I thought I'd share in honour of this day, to demonstrate just how far we've come!

These adverts tickled me pink and made me spit out my tea when I first saw them because, thankfully, the prospect of such overt sexism is completely alien to me!

I will be spending the day having a good old read of all the other blogger's posts on the AOW and OCPP blogs and being ever grateful to those brave women who came before us, fought for our rights and for those women who are still championing women's rights and the need for equality today.

How will you be celebrating International Women's Day?
