Hey lovelies,
Today I'm sharing a classically beautiful wedding with a sumptuously rich and unique colour palette.
Gun metal grey, eggplant and teal, no less.
Aside from the oh so pretty palette, other things to covet from Mark and Tegan's special day include:
~ A bride in an off the shoulder silk wedding gown with 3/4 gathered sleeves. Love the sleeves.
~ Unusual, green hued florals that look so vibrant and fresh you can almost smell them.
~ Chic textured bridesmaids dresses in silk and lace jewel tones that wouldn't look out of place in a classy cocktail bar.
~ Metallic, mercuried glass and flickering candles adorning every surface of the reception dining hall.

It doesn't get much more elegant than this!
From Tegan, the bride:
Even though we were having a fall wedding, I didn’t want to go with the typical orange and brown and pumpkin type of theme. Instead, we went for a sophisticated palette of metallics and jewel tones- dark teal, eggplant, and various shades of green to create an elegant, yet personal Southern soiree.
The Flowers
To create a natural and romantic feel with the flowers, the florist used different arrangements of hanging amaranthus, seeded eucalyptus, hypernicum berries, different types of ferns, hydrangeas, mums and roses.
DIY Garter
My mom made my garter and used one of her antique broaches to adorn it ~ it was my something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue all in one!
The Ceremony
Logistically, it made sense that we do a first look but we were afraid it would take away from the excitement of walking down the aisle to each other. I’m so glad we decided to do it! It was truly a beautiful and private moment that we will never forget and our nerves were instantly calmed (to an extent!)
We had a traditional Episcopal wedding service, but one of my dear friends helped me choose a poem, “My heart is like a singing bird,” by Christina Rossetti, whose words just beautifully reflected the feel and meaning of our special day.
Décor & Details
We wanted to create some architectural interest that enhanced the beauty of our train station venue. This was accomplished by using long rectangular tables instead of the standard wedding rounds. It was a bit of a challenge to create the floor and seating plans, but totally worth it in the end. We displayed a cluster of family photos, parents and grandparents on their wedding days for guests to look at during the cocktail hour.
DIY projects included chalkboard signs, a seating chart, photo backdrop with props, pies to accompany the cake. Our favors were small jars of homemade apple butter, a Southern staple.
The Refreshments
In keeping with the theme, we served Southern inspired hors d'oeuvres and dinner buffet- complete with bite sized sweet potato ham biscuits and shrimp and grits, my favorite! Our cake had two different flavors on alternating layers- carrot and red velvet and decorated with buttercream icing.
The Wedding Music
Our first dance was “Swept Away” by the Avett Brothers, our favorite band.
Photography
Lauryn Galloway is a lovely person, a true professional, and someone I could hang out with all day!
She has a true gift in evoking the intangible in her photographs.
(Can I just say, that is the prettiest way I've ever heard of saying someone is a great photographer.)
Favourite Moment
Probably standing, hand-in-hand, with my husband before our friends and families during the ceremony and feeling so much love all around!
Advice
Definitely designate someone to keep things on schedule and organized on your big day. Whether you hire someone or ask a friend or family member to do it, make sure that load won’t fall on you or your spouse. You shouldn’t be worried about logistics on your most important day; enjoy the fruits of your labor!
