Sometimes the most simple weddings, are the most special. And Tobi and Cait's sweet DIY wedding, was pretty special.

This wonderful pair married Idaho with an intimate celebration that they created with the help of their family and friends.

It was captured by the talented Jono & Laynie Co. – and we're so excited for you guys to see their dreamy portraits!

Tobi, from Germany and Cait, from the US, met in Israel. Their wedding was an eclectic mix of their backgrounds with decor details that were gathered from the homes of their parents and grandparents.

Continuing the family affair, Cait's brother was their celebrant, her cousin baked her cake, and her mother helped her with lots of somethings borrowed from their local antiques store.

With a self-catered reception and a beautiful bouquet made from CostCo blooms, this gorgeous big day has everything we love about DIY weddings; Creativity, lots of hard work, and a little help from the ones you love.

We think your hearts will be just as warmed by Tobi and Cait's sweet, simple, sublime wedding, as ours were!

Our Wedding

Our wedding was very simple and down to earth with a outdoorsy home feel to it. We mainly got the inspiration from the things that we would see in our parents’/grandparents’ homes.

What we used to call weird and ugly, has now become a fashionable for almost all weddings. And it is surprisingly easy to get and afford.

Our colors were dark green, navy blue, and ash grey – we chose these colors because of our love for the nature, and how good these colors look on us!

The Attire

I (Cait) wore a dress that I spontaneously bought on the internet while I was living in Israel, hoping that it would be “the one” and sure enough, it was! I wore a dark blue thick ribbon to add more “spice.”

Tobi went to H&M, he picked out a grey suit, bought a flannel button up that matched our colors and had a dark blue tie with a wool vest. It couldn't have been better!

The bridal party wore dark blue long dresses with coral pink accents of jewelry and shoes. The men wore dark blue jeans with white button up shirts and dark green/blue bowties and brown shoes.

The Ceremony

My brother did our ceremony, and that's about as personal as it gets. We also decided to write our own vows.

Our music included, The Nearness of You, by Loud Harp, Come Away by Jesus Culture, and Breaking Through, by Jeremy Riddle.

Special Moments

For us we loved that our wedding was so small and only close family and friends were there.

People that had been through the thick and thin with us and that this day was just as special for them as it was for us. There was no dry eye in the room. From my kindergarten classmate to my best friend I had since I was only 4 years old.

We all felt like one big family. The wedding had such a comfortable and loving atmosphere that everything we did was unforgettable.

The Photography

We chose Jono & Laynie because they are personable, family-oriented and will do whatever it takes to capture the moment that you want.

They are very organized and take shots that we didn’t even know that someone could capture.

They feel like family but are also very professional. They are willing to capture moments that most photographers don’t notice or capture.

Refreshments

We had finger foods with iced coffee and flavored water, and a wedding cake my cousin made.

The Decor & Details

My mom knows the local antique store and they let us come into their store and pick whatever wanted for all of our decorations. We were not shy. We got all of our plates, cups, decor, everything from them.

That saved us thousands of dollars and we just simply gave it back to them when we were done.

DIY is a bit more work but totally worth it. We created everything, from flowers, to doors, to the backdrop, we did it all.

Advice for Other Couples

I would suggest writing down the 10 major things that are important to you and your husband and go from there.

That is where you will put your effort, time, and money into and the rest will come together. Also, make this day yours and not your mother's, your great-grandma's, or anyone else’s.

Make it the day you want, and you will enjoy it. If you are enjoying your wedding, so will all your guests.

Isn't it romantic, the photographs are just gorgeous, and I just love how, it was such a family affair. Also, I just love the lace on Cait's dress, I can't believe she bought it online!

Thanks so much to Jono & Laynie Co. and the gorgeous Tobi and Cait, for sharing their beautiful wedding with us. Congratulations!
