We crush hard over pretty paper goods around these parts. Real hard!
The colours, the cuts, the fonts, and the styles, we could look at save the dates, invitations and thank you cards all day long, and imagine the kind of celebrations they’d be perfectly paired with.
And one of our favourite places to browse for wedding stationery has to be Wedding Paper Divas.
Their site feeds our stationery addiction with one of the biggest selections of styles on the internet. Gorgeous photo cards, quirky save the dates, beautiful classic invitations, and fun on the day adornments.
So, when Wedding Paper Divas asked us to put together a couple of our top stationery trends, well to say we jumped at the chance, would be a massive understatement.
We spent hours (any excuse!) on their site, picking out our favourite finds, and we (finally) managed to whittle it down to ten looks we think will be big news in 2015…
1. Hello Helvetica
For the cool, design minded couple with simple tastes.
We love this monochrome design that makes a big statement in its simplicity. This on the day suite would look just perfect in a chic cosmopolitan hotel wedding or cool warehouse backdrop.
2. Club Tropicana
For the fun loving couple who love travel, and cocktails!
The tropicana trend isn’t just a stationery one, as couples are choosing to adorn their days with pineapple accents, flamingo features, and balmy palm tree style.
Choosing tropical themed stationery is the best way to set the tone for your laid back bash. Keep it classy with pastel hues and retro designs – think Miami or Palm Springs style.
3. Double Exposure
For hopeless romantics with an eye for style.
There’s a big movement for double exposure (layering images) in wedding photography at the moment, so show you’re ahead of the curve with opaque invitations.
Layering colours can be tricky, so follow the lead of this beauty above, and keep your tones soft and delicate with an ombre style.
4. Folk Art
For the bohemians, the hippies and the crafters.
As the trend for all things sixties and seventies starts to make its way into weddings, we love the idea of incorporating a little folk art florals into your wedding stationery.
Simple embroidery-style patterns work best, and switch up the colours to match your wedding palette. We love this one for a cool, campsite wedding or pretty garden bash.
5. Go For Gold
For the glamorous, cosmopolitan couple.
We don’t think we’ll ever tire of foil stamped gold invitations! But sometimes they can look a little too classic for our tastes.
Give your gilded invites a modern twist with bold fonts, strong shapes, and maybe some monochrome spots or stripes to really make it pop.
6. Hipster Rustic
For the small town hipster couples.
This might seem like a niche trend, but there’s more of you out there than you think!
There’s so many couples looking for that down home feel to their wedding, while still having something a little quirky and modern. Think pretty cuts and kraft style paper paired with cool graphics and trendy fonts.
7. Colour Burst
For couples who want to make a statement.
Pink and yellow, purple and turquoise, green and blue; we love bright colour clashes on wedding stationery.
After years of swooning over blush hues, we’re ready for bright splashes, these work really well for summer weddings or destination celebrations.
8. Informal Phrasing
For the trailblazing couple who want to break from tradition.
“You are cordially invited to…” Who actually says that! If you’re having just your nearest and dearest to your wedding, there’s no need to use formal language or a stiff tone, after all, you’re inviting them to come party with you!
Keeping it casual from the very start with your invitations, will set the tone for a very fun bash.
9. Watercolour & Whimsy
For renaissance romantics who like the finer things in life.
If you’re having a classic wedding (we’re thinking a luxe castle, ballroom, or country house affair) and you want a wedding that reflects the feel of your venue, but is also super stylish, the watercolour trend is simply divine.
From dark and stormy dramatic blooms to pretty, delicate florals, this stationery style is hopelessly romantic and entirely classic but oh-so-chic too.
10. Optional Extras
For the couple with a serious attention to detail.
You guys know we love a personal touch to a wedding, and Wedding Paper Divas have all kinds of ideas for putting a pretty stamp on your day.
Think napkins, coasters and gift tags, to give your wedding day perfect personalised polish. For a really styled look, opt for adornments that match your stationery.
