We love dishing out wedding advice, (it's basically our full time jobs!) on things like decor, budgeting, and working with vendors.
One piece of advice that often gets bandied about, is that couples should play up the natural beauty of their venue, and have their decor in keeping with its aesthetic.
And while today's bride and groom certainly played up the beauty of their venue, they also took the vibe of their backdrop and flipped it on its head!
Judy & Anthony got married in Denver Colorado, with a romantic outdoor ceremony, and a flower filled reception in the Space Gallery.
They took a modern, industrial building, and adorned it in abundant pink peonies, old-fashioned milk bottles, embroidery ring table numbers ditsy print garland, and vintage crockery.
Anthony rocked a white suit with tweed and pink accents and old school spectator shoes, while Judy kept it classic and glamorous in a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown with sparkling accessories.
And the result? A day that was as charming as it was chic. As Judy describes it, timeless, romantic and intimate.

Wedding Day Snapshot
Our Love Story
Anthony and I first met in the fall of 2010, he was playing basketball and I was watching on in the crowd.
After four years of dating – we are finally married!
Our theme and feel was a fun party with lots of vintage accents but clean and natural style.
The color palette was shades of coral, peach, blush, mint green with accents of pewter blue.
Our flowers used were dahlias, ranunculus, roses, spray roses, peonies, stock, godetia, astilbe, passion vine, hydrangea, dusty miller, and gray berzilia berries.
The Decor & Details
I spent months looking at Pinterest and Etsy for design inspiration and ideas.
Many of my special touches came from Etsy, the bridal headband by Twigs & Honey, wedding invitations/guest book/sign by Shabbyscrap. I also found some great and unique décor items from BHLDN.
Our favorite moment was when we saw each other for the first time down the aisle.
Music was provided by Leavitt Music Inc. Cloud 9 String Quartet.
The bridal party walked down the aisle to a special arrangement of ‘Falling Slowly' by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova and I walked down to ‘Marry Me' by Train.
The Wedding Car
It was truly a timeless moment having a 1977 Rolls Royce for mode of transportation on our wedding day – what a special treat.
This wedding was two years in the making.
I was very hands-on when it came down to the wedding creation process.
Everything from choosing the grooms’ attire, Brooks Brothers’ the Great Gatsby Collection Ivory Linen Suit and white/brown Spectator Wingtips, to my dreamy wedding gown, Monique Lhuillier’s Forever, a Blush Spanish tulle draped trumpet gown.
When it came to choosing a venue Anthony and I both fell in love with the Space Gallery’s new venue floor plan…construction had not begun when we signed (crazy), but we really loved the modern attributes of the new venue.
These were the launching pieces to creating a ‘Pretty Pink Vintage meets Modern Art Gallery' wedding.
My goal when designing this very special day was to achieve a romantic, soft, airy look and to showcase the love we have for each other.
During cocktail hour the string quartet played classical to rock selections such as Led Zeppelin ‘Kashmir,' ‘All of My Love,' by Led Zeppelin, and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen.
DJ Nunez from Nufusion Productions, did a wonderful job at incorporating the Latin flavors (Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, Samba etc.) with Hip Hop, R&B/Soul, Reggae, and Dance music during the reception – wedding guests raved about the music – he kept everyone on the dance floor.
Rachael Teufel provided the wedding cake from Intricate Icings Cake Design and the cupcakes were by Alex from Mya Bella Cupcakes – unforgettable desserts, not only gorgeous but unique, and absolutely delicious.
Anthony and I both wanted our wedding to have something that represented my Dominican Republic and his Southern roots – from the MamaJuana DIY favors (a drink from the Dominican Republic that is concocted by allowing Brugal rum, red wine, raisin, molasses, and honey to soak in a bottle with tree bark and herbs), Presidente Beer, and to the Southern BBQ comfort food provided by Boney’s Smokehouse BBQ.
Advice for Other Couples
Breathe, smile, and HAVE FUN! Take it all in, my event was about 6 hours long – it felt like it wasn’t enough time.
The wedding day felt like a dream, all those hours spent planning every little detail was well worth it – everything looked beautiful.
All of this wouldn’t have come into existence without every unique piece of eclectic furnishings provided by Chairished Vintage Rentals, the beautiful floral arrangements/candlelight lighting designed by Cori Cooks Floral Design and the masterful coordination provided by the lovely ladies of We Tie the Knots.
Paradisus Punta Cana Resort in Dominican Republic – wonderful staff, beautiful property, top all-inclusive.
Those flowers! There's something so luxurious about so many big blooms all together – beautiful!
Thanks so much to the marvellous Selah Photography, and of course our newlyweds, Judy & Anthony for sharing their vintage-laced, modern art gallery wedding.
