While we’re for showing some love 365 days of the year, we do hope you’re having a little extra romance in your life today, whether it’s in the form of a card or gift, a sweet gesture, a date night at home, (or maybe even a proposal!).

We thought we’d celebrate St. Valentine with an intimate, romantic, and rather beautiful styled shoot all the way from Barcelona.

Captured on film by En Route Photography and planned by A Spanish Do, this one will inspire anyone dreaming of a sweet elopement or a small wedding in a grand setting.

With gorgeous style, seductive details and elegant decor, there’s a lot to be smitten with. So curl up on your chaise lounge (or maybe just your sofa), and enjoy!

It’s clear when you look through the gallery that the inspiration and main protagonist of this shoot is the distinctly unique venue.

We were introduced to the Rectoria del Godmar completely by chance, when a contact mentioned that an old rectory to the north of Barcelona was being converted into an exclusive wedding venue.

We had the privilege of seeing it before the renovation was even finished, and as soon as we walked in, it was clear that the space just lent itself to an editorial.

A styled shoot is always a chance for all of the collaborators to experiment, and do something a little out of their comfort zone.

In Spain, most weddings are celebrated outdoors, so it was a very inspiring challenge for us to work with, and do justice to, such an incredible indoor space.

We felt that the venue was so timeless that a quintessentially elegant theme was a must, while at the same time the imposing air of the place demanded a touch of luxury. The grey and white interior also resonated very well with some nods to the marble trend in the stationery and cake.

The theme of timeless opulence naturally emerged from there. We kept the palette very neutral with glints of gold within the tableware, furnishings, and even in the food and cake.

We wanted the images to exude elegance but in a very understated way, with nothing garish or over the top. The baroque furnishings, as well as some unique pieces such as the glass and gold side tables and liquor trolley, and the exclusive tableware really set the desired scene, and the gastronomy and patisserie fitted the bill exactly.

From fashion to make-up artist to stationery, we were lucky enough to have a truly international team, with origins from all over the world, but each and every one with a strong connection to Barcelona.

Starting from the concept and throughout the day of the shoot itself, the project was a true team effort.

Once the theme was defined the rest of the details simply flowed, and we found everyone’s vision was completely in tune.
