The Wedding Gift List Edit: For Couples Setting Up Home

The Wedding Shop Gift List

They say that buying a home is one of the most stressful things you’ll go through as a couple. But it’s also one of the most fun!

Putting your stamp on your new home, celebrating with a housewarming, hosting dinner parties and of course those cosy nights in with the love of your life. There’s something so satisfying about setting up your new pad exactly how you want it and enjoying it with the people you care most about.

Whether you’re on the property ladder or simply moving into a new home soon after your wedding, your gift list is the perfect opportunity to get set up for newly married life.

In collaboration with our friends at The Wedding Shop – the gift list experts – we’ve put together a guide to those must have essentials for setting up home (or even just upgrading those grotty old pots and pans that have followed you since your since your student days!)

Kit Out Your Kitchen

So gorgeous, so iconic, and so versatile is the dutch oven. Cast iron coated in enamel, this kitchen essential is great on the stove, oven proof, and virtually non-stick.

You can find a variety of dutch ovens and casserole dishes on The Wedding Shop, and we love the stylish French Le Creuset dutch oven. These beauties are prefect for braising meat, cooking your famous spicy chili, roasting whole heads of cauliflower, baking bread, you name it!

Don’t forget the rest of the pots and pans, keep with the theme and go for everlasting cast iron, or for a more modern kitchen pick out the perfect copper set.

Throw Dinner Parties in Style

Cooking in your home for friends becomes a lot more exciting when you carry out the steamy goods on pretty serveware. I get such a kick out of showing off the new platters I’ve picked up and pulling out a proper wooden cheese board and Riedel stemware to make my friends feel as though they’ve come to the new, hip, Michelin star wine bar.

The number of pieces with different, specific serving functions are many (creamers, bread boards, oyster forks, so on and so forth). On The Wedding Shop you can find so many complimentary sets. I have a penchant for anything earthenware. Every piece within this set has an individual handmade character, so if you ever lose one, something a bit different will likely fit the bill.

Cozy Up Together

One of the best things about staying in hotels are the luxurious bed linens. Why not let the honeymoon last forever by upgrading your nightly slumber to a four star stay?  The higher the thread count, the softer the sheet, and the softer it will become over time.  Francesco Calvidini has a 400 count set, with shams and duvet covers to match, so you can dream about those days in Hawai’i with your honey.

Bring the cozy comfort into the living room as well with a few accenting throw blankets and cushions – perfect to snuggle up with for a Netflix sesh. (Dinner parties are fabulous and all but sometimes a night in front of the telly is just what you need!)
