Hot toddies and the one you love is all you need to keep warm on a Chicago rooftop right? Today’s styled shoot features a real life couple who’s words of love make us all warm and fuzzy inside.

“She is the rock of our relationship, the quiet calm of any storm, and the person I call home.” Lauren says of Amy, how heart-warming!

While the photos don’t show it, I bet a few storms are coming the Windy City’s way any week now, and photographer Rachel Brown Kulp put together some warm, autumnal details for all our stormy, fall brides and grooms. The lamb’s ear is a cozy accent to the light orange and peach florals, and how about hanging roses above the ceremony? We have an eye on that whisky decanter ready for hot toddies, or your signature cocktail of choice (Manhattan, please!)

This story is all about true love. We photographed real-life couple, Amy and Lauren, beneath an arbor of swinging flowers and glittering string lights on a rooftop on Chicago’s North Side. Tables adorned with cascading autumn bounty — gold and white pumpkins, pillar candles, chrysanthemums, peach roses and eucalyptus — and a stocked bar cart set the stage for an intimate, low-key affair — both rustic and urbane.

The two women have been together for several years and all afternoon, they looked at each other like there was no one else in the room (or on the roof!). Lauren says of Amy, “She is the rock of our relationship, the quiet calm of any storm, and the person I call home.” Although this was a styled shoot, everyone present felt like they were witnessing they real thing.
