Maybe it’s the impending royal wedding, maybe it’s the new greater appreciation of diamonds thanks to the one on my finger, maybe I’m a moth to the flame, or maybe it’s a true trend resurgence retaking the wedding fashion scene, but boy, I can’t get enough of sparkling, bridal tiaras these days. Liz’s bridal crown is absolutely royal, a perfect fashion choice for an undeniably luxurious, cliffside Santorini wedding.

Set on the edge of the caldera, Liz and Rob’s intimate destination wedding was perfectly planned, even from far away. Thanks to their champion planners of Stella and Moscha, Liz’s wedding dreams not only came true, but stresses of planning a faraway destination wedding were alleviated.

No idea was too grand, like the floral rich altar for their ceremony, a giant marquee “LOVE” sign to light up the Adriatic night, or even obtaining visas to ensure their family arrived safely from the Philippines. Thanks to experienced help, the week could not have been more perfect.

The Love Story

They met in Manila during the Festive Season (December) of 2014 for their respective vacation – It was an instant attraction between the two and didn’t wish to leave it just to be a holiday romance, so they decided to endure a long-distance relationship thereafter.

The thousands of miles have strengthened their love despite its difficult challenges. After more than a year of traveling long-haul flights, international calls, instant messages and video chats, Rob made the bold move of leaving behind his life in Sydney and relocate to Dubai just to be with Liz.

Rob immediately orchestrated his proposal upon his relocation which happened on a hot air balloon trip over the desert sunrise. It came as a massive surprise for Liz as it was an unlikely date for Rob to propose being it was the anniversary of the death of his father. Plus, at the very same moment, Liz was in a middle of a deep conversation with God to give thanks for bringing Rob into her life. Of course, Liz said YES! Their engagement is an answered prayer for them both.

The Location

With Liz giving all the credit of their relationship to God, she, therefore, envisioned to hold their wedding in a heaven-like dreamy, high & near the clouds setting that lead them to choose Santorini (even though they’ve never been there before.)

Their initial research set their sights to Rocabella Hotel since it could hold both the wedding ceremony, reception, and provide catering at the same venue while also providing the best view of the famed Santorini sunset.

Not too long after, they met Lydia of Stella & Moscha with the very criteria of finding someone whom they felt comfortable with and trust amongst the big pool of wedding planners in Santorini to help them organize the most important day of their lives.

Special Moments

Apart from the being pronounced as husband and wife, my favorite moment was seeing family. Our wedding planner assisted in obtaining visas to ensure the attendance of my mother and son from the Philippines, friends and my groom awaiting my walk down the aisle. This was such a big relief after a year of preparation for the wedding of an indecisive bride like me.

I am glad that my wedding planner was able to translate my wishes and thoughts that they are the one who reminded me of my childhood dream wedding that I have long forgotten.

The highlight of the reception was the groom’s speech as it was very brave of my husband to speak publicly about the pain and depression of losing his father due to cancer. I use the memory of our wedding, the pre-wedding boat trip and post BBQ brunch activities and the whole week spent in Santorini itself as a medium of my meditation whenever I needed to relax or relieve myself of stress.

The Photography & Videography

The couple felt that choosing the photographer and videographer was surprisingly one of the easiest decision they made during the wedding planning process. They found the two Nikos to be easily distinguishable and outstanding amongst those that were presented to them for that assignment.

Gogas, for photos, incorporates the surroundings in his photos which is very important for any couples who invested on a destination wedding.

Dimou, for the videos, was the only one who can deliver the same day edit (SDE, something that is not a common videography service in Santorini) video shown at the end of the reception that the couple has particularly requested.

These are apart from the helpful reviews the bride had secretly stalked about these gentlemen.

The Details

The whole look of their wedding evolved from one theme to another with the guidance of their wedding planner as any couple can get easily get lost with too much wedding inspirations online.

With a collaborative effort, they achieved an elegant wedding theme, accentuated with blush and gold colors which unconsciously (for Liz) brought to life the wedding that the bride has been dreaming of ever since childhood.

Along with it, the couple opted for an entire look and feel of the entire wedding that befits timelessness rather than merely following any wedding trends. The most important thing is everyone enjoyed the day and will be dearly remembered forever.

Advice for Other Couples

Hiring a wedding planner whom you can build rapport is a must-have for couples who are planning a destination wedding. You can then consider everything to done. I was lucky with mine!
