Good morning,
After yesterday's sneak peek it's time to discover more about the bride behind those glittery be-ribboned heels and her unique wedding!
Planned in just 8 weeks with a lot of help from friends and family, Missy and Matt's wedding is eclectically beautiful and quite simply, awesome.
Here are just a few examples of the awesomeness: an intimate, mountaintop setting in an amphitheater, the turquoise and pink colour scheme, a red convertible, labradors in bow ties, mismatched bridesmaids in black with multi-coloured shoes, amazing vintage vases, the handsome, laid back groom, the beautiful bride with her own, truly chic and unique style. {I can't express how much I adore her short, ballerina tutu wedding dress!!} And all captured to perfection by photographer, Travis Percival.
Here's a little from Missy, the bride, about their wedding:
We planned this wedding in 8 weeks (because my mom decided that we should get married before her heart surgery which had been delayed since feb) with the help of so many friends. This wedding was all about the talents of dear friends, from the photographer, the trumpet player for the ceremony and cocktail hour, the reverend, the chef, flower arrangements, desserts, you name it! The only person we didn't know personally was the wedding planner who never showed up! The wedding was on top of Flagstaff Mountain, in Boulder at an outdoor stone amphitheatre. It was threatening to rain! We had a very intimate ceremony, officiated by our friend Father Rol Hoverstock.
We lucked out and only had a little rain during dinner, where I sat and watched the drops going into the pool. None of our guests moved! They just pretended it wasn't raining and kept chatting and having a great time! The reception was at an historic home in Boulder, owned by my friend, called the Ekeley House. It is off the hook! (it has been featured in many magazines due to Carolyn's amazing taste).
The dress was from The Aisle New York, my New York friends, ala the lovely designer Anne Barge, and is a one-of-a-kind runway sample. Aaahhh. Because of the last minute planning, I had THREE, close, dear friends who could not be there!! I was so sad, but the show must go on. I remembered that when I was a kid, I would get nervous when my mom travelled without me. I made her carry a pearl with her, so that I would know she was safe, and so that in some small way I could be with her. I decided to take that concept with my three friends. I picked ribbon in colors that represented each of them, and asked them to each make a bow that I could stitch easily, undetected, in those SEVEN layers of English netting!!
I absolutely love the idea of including friends/family who can't make it to the wedding in that sentimental way. Missy's three friends walked up the aisle with her, after all!
Come back tomorrow for Part 2 of this awesome wedding.
