This modern Japanese influence wedding style (uni & sushi!) is so fresh

Are you still buried under snow? Are you, like me, still complaining about the inevitable cold that winter (so unsurprisingly) brings us every year? Sorry, I can’t help it! Then you need a bright and cheery pick-me-up! And this Los Angeles rooftop wedding inspiration filled with modern, geometric design elements, Japanese influence and tasty treats is just what the doctor ordered.

A rose gold structure sets the scene for this ultra-modern rooftop space, maximizing the rays for your wedding party – or hey, bridal shower! The gold stools stand as a great contrast, mixing metal with metal, one of our favorite trends of the year.

While the tablescape is set so chicly by CCL Events, it’s the sea urchin bowls that steal the show, not to mention all the other treats our chicly dressed bridal party enjoy. A marble cake, brushstroke macarons, and yes, sushi! Everything about this spread and space photographed so brightly by Christine Farah says Spring is upon us (or at least we’ll dream it is!)

We designed a styled bridal shower for all our ladies who are edgy, yet classic; trendy, yet humble; and unique, yet relatable.

Inspiration for our faux bride, Chloe Amari, came in the form of an LA-native, a lover of graphic design and dainty things – a minimalist and romantic! It was only fitting that this shower took place on South Park Center’s newly renovated patio on the 30th floor with the Downtown Los Angeles skyline as the beautiful backdrop on a bright and sunny day.

We built a custom 7-foot wooden structure to further elevate the sushi feast our ladies enjoyed on top of a maroon table strung by thick twine. Chloe’s culture inspired the minimal themes and menu that afternoon.

Adorned in soft white blooms and romantic greenery by Rekindle Creative, our structure stood bold on top of the 30th floor. Our florals didn’t stop there, Japanese themes inspired our artfully crafted centerpieces, and each table setting was paired with its own mini bouquet. Inspired by our paper goods, we added a hanging rose gold hexagon whose florals were replicated on our marbled cake.

Our modern details were reflected in our edgy copper stools and subtle rose gold detailing on our chopsticks and wine glasses. Our soft hues came in shades of grey and pink through our slate placemats, tableware, marble chopstick holders and cascading grey table runner. And what bride wouldn’t want to sit in the beautiful pink statement chair from Found Rentals?

Our bride, Chloe, and her maids were dressed in chic pieces from Vivian Chan, paired with elegant and dainty hairpieces by Maggie Wu Studios, perfect for our inspiration’s trendy style. The ladies feasted on Beach Live sea urchin (uni) bowls and Sugarfish sushi rolls using rose gold chopsticks on the patio and then moved indoors where they were greeted by an installation backdrop built from over a dozen parasols with a buffet of mini desserts from Merely Sweets. Geometric dessert tags led the ladies to black sesame macarons and mochi balls. To top it off, Rekindle Creative mirrored the floral dressing on our levitating hexagon outside with the mini hexagon on our cake!

We designed this shower to be a modern twist to a halfway point between bohemian and romantic minimalistic, having bold statements with soft touches and innovative designs outside the box.
