Here at Bridal Musings, we’re all about “you do you” right? Well, with an alternative and chic grey wedding dress, a Harry Potter groom’s cake, DIY details and indoor wintery vibes, this Texan couple knows how to celebrate their vows while absolutely being themselves.
The literary details scattered throughout this wedding are not only chic but totally personal. Caring less about flowers than other details of their day, Katie’s bouquet in-turn became a focal point thanks to her favorite quotes and readings folded into paper flowers by her best friend.
And the space had such a warm, cozy vibe for two book-loving lovebirds. The white brick loft space was made rustic chic thanks to the substantial wooden altar crafted by the groom (major DIY win!) Then draped with foliage, this simple, minimalistic space was given enough outdoorsy love to feel organic and totally festive.
Our Love Story
Chris and I met at work. We worked in the same group and we became really close friends. Two years later we decided to start dating and almost six years later we got married.
The proposal was at home, just the two of us, right before we went to dinner for our five year anniversary. It was perfect.
The Flowers
The flowers weren’t so important to us. The one thing I wanted was paper flowers in my bouquet that my best friend folded. Each flower had my favorite book quotes printed on them and it was perfect.
Around my bouquet, I wound pearls that my mom always told me she would give me on my wedding day. I also added to my bouquet a necklace from Chris’ mom that had been in the family for years.
Favorite Moments
Getting ready with my girls and of course, walking down the aisle were favorite moments of mine. It had been so long and I was so ready. Also, eating the cake was awesome.
The Details
We had a homemade jam that people could take home that we got from the catering company. Chris made the arch we got married under. It turned out just perfect. Also, my maid of honor hand folded my book quote flowers for my bouquet.
Advice to Other Couples
Do it together and have fun! I valued Chris opinion and it was fun for us to do it all together.
Also, hire a wedding planner! If not for the whole planning at least hire a day-of-coordinator. I didn’t have to worry about anything on the day of and it was perfect.
