Luxurious Coco Chanel Inspired Wedding Ideas

How many of us aspire to be our chicest, most elegant bridal selves? When I think of the ultimate in luxurious, French fashions (and thus fashion itself?) my favorite glimmering inspiration comes from Coco Chanel.

“Simplicity is key to true elegance” the prolific designer once said, Bowtie and Belle Photography and their talented team of UK wedding pros have taken this mantra to heart with their opulent and luxurious wedding inspiration.

From the stationery to bridal beauty, this styled shoot executes each minimalistic detail with precision. The invitations are modern and bold. The black-tie inspiration finds its way into black and white anemones and luxurious black silk ribbons.

But minimalism is always at its finest with a bit of shimmer (we think Coco would agree). A minimal, white tiered cake dons a bit of glimmer with gold details and floral embellishments and our bride’s second gown is dripping with art-deco inspired jewels, an excellent way to add a little Chanel-approved glamour.

For this shoot I wanted to practice the art of simplicity and showcase how less is definitely more when executed correctly. In an industry overwhelmed by ideas on Pinterest it’s easy for couples to get influenced into thinking they need every sign and station going. However, by pairing things back key focus can be placed on key quality items such as florals, linens and stationery which will have the biggest impact.

Taking inspiration from Coco Chanel, I wanted to use her signature palette of monochrome and lift it with a delicate injection of purple. Crushed black velvet linen was used as a base with textured white linen on top to make the flowers and other elements pop. Many couples will stray away from using black at weddings in fear of it being too heavy or dark but by keeping the top light you get the drama without it being overpowering.

Everything else was kept simple and elegant, including hair and makeup, so that the intricate details of Claire Mischevani‘s dresses stood out.

The backdrop for all of this had to be Pynes House as it so beautifully matched the concept of this shoot. This 18th Century house has beautifully light rooms decorated with simple yet oh so perfect elements, making it a perfect blank canvas.
