A balance of modern wedding attire and midcentury furniture, this farmhouse wedding inspiration blends all of our favorite trends in design and style. The shoot is both classically pretty (thanks to plenty of lace and roses) and masculine and warm (thanks to deep tones and wooden details).

And the cake, oh the cake! As if we weren’t obsessed enough with ruffled dresses we’re spoiled with a dramatic & clean white ruffled cake. If you’re looking for a serious wow factor on your dessert table not only will this beauty impress, but we’d bet it would match just about any color and wedding-day style.

Our overall inspiration was to take this farmhouse styled venue and add some modern touches to keep it natural and dreamy! Perfect for the bride who wants a touch of modern without sacrificing a timeless and organic look! We would describe the overall aesthetic as “modern farmhouse” with a whimsical touch.

The venue was built on a true passion for love and family. The owners, Jessica and Kyle, said “I do” under the same tree we set out to create our ceremony backdrop. We decided to do a floral tree installation aimed to have a natural look with just the right amount of blooms!

The aisle was marked by modern mid-century inspired planters filled with foraged greens and blooms of white and soft blush hues. Not only did the ceremony site have a sentimental story, but the chairs did too! The mid-century modern chairs, manufactured in the 1950’s by Haywood Wakefield, were salvaged from an old school house in Chicago. The ceremony chairs while modern still felt natural with strong wood tones and a simple design.

As our models walked down the aisle carrying our hand tied bouquet, we knew we got it just right! Erin’s makeup by Laura Reynolds Artistry created a youthful and natural look that paired perfectly with her romantic falling curls. Erin wore a Maggie Sottero gown provided by Lola Grace Bridal Boutique that featured a gorgeous lace detailed back and flowing skirt! Mason was the perfect match and the two models had us falling in love as they brought the life into our vision!

As you drive up to the venue and look out on the property, the front barn doors are breathtaking. We knew it was just the perfect place to stage the dessert table. Lauren with Sweet Flours created a whimsical, yet clean aesthetic for the cake. We choose our white modern buffet as the cake table accented with modern industrial tea light votives by Southern Reclaim Co and our mid-century planters lush with foraged greens and white and blush tone blooms. Deep blue candlesticks in our brass vintage candlesticks on the table elevated the design with another layer of timelessness.

As evening struck we moved inside the barn where the scene turned dramatic and magical! We used natural farmhouse tables, which integrated the natural woods from the surrounding trees. Our tablescape featured true vintage mid-century modern tabletop pieces including Russel Wright American Modern dinnerware and vintage gold Diriylte Empress flatware accented with marble chargers. We incorporated cool blue tones with the dinnerware and pops of soft blush tones through the floral arrangements!

Combinations of rustic and modern pieces were used to tailor together the vintage and farmhouse inspirations into an evolved, chic design. Jelly Press’ paper goods designed a fun and artistic suite perfect for the bride who wants a romantic theme throughout the wedding!
