How to use tangerine citrus in your wedding decor (all the way from Portugal)

We’ve got a serious thing for citrus decor – when you’ve gathered your local market flowers and need more textures, more sizes, and more pops of color to play with there’s nothing more simple than grabbing a box of local fruit to fill the table. This tangerine filled wedding inspiration from Portugal is a zesty twist on vintage wedding style.

And tangerine isn’t the only splash of zesty color to gush over in the shoot – across the color wheel, we see the most vibrant of the blues, turquoise. Featured in the groom’s suits, fine china and vintage cars, we see how to pair the zippy color palette in an elegant fashion.

Our starring bride and groom, zipping around in their iconic cars, stand out beyond the pops of orange and blue thanks to their unique style (& Edgar Dias’ stunning photography). Of the two boho gowns, the bride’s off-the-shoulder wedding dress has our hearts – with delicate sleeves featuring swiss dot details, this modern wedding dress is as fresh as their tangerine wedding cake.

The “Florence” dress (first look), with its mermaid cut and sleeves, plucked in beige cotton plumetti, exudes vintage inspiration that blends in perfectly with the hills, full of history of the Douro Valley. The heart-cut body and the use of lined buttons in the back give it a romantic touch that fuses with this idyllic landscape. For the groom suit, we chose fresher tones. The jungle green fabric of the suit in conjunction with the orange on the tie complements the vintage look, fused in a subtle way with the shades of the surrounding nature.

For the second look, the “Alessandra” dress, also of vintage inspiration, is all made in super soft beige plumetti, and composed of two overlapping skirts, one longer than the other. The deep V-neck gives it a touch of sensuality without being exaggerated. This elegant dress blends with the classic groom apparel, for that we chose a more sober tone, the classic navy blue, adorned with a green pocket square and a blue and green plaid tie that elegantly portray the colors of the river and the Douro valley. The fedora style hat completes the look and gives it a touch of originality.
