Rustic Blue Desert Wedding

Rustic Blue Las Vegas Desert Wedding – Susie and Will 6

Rustic villa vibes & floral-rich decor with succulents galore, this is not the typical Las Vegas wedding.

In truth, when we first saw this feminine, dusty blue wedding we instantly guessed Spanish villa or midcentury Palm Springs wedding, but in fact, this stunning scene takes place at Las Vegas’ Springs Preserve. Boasting a beautiful botanical garden just twenty minutes from downtown, this venue offers Vegas couples a floral-rich eco-friendly retreat from all the glitz and glamour of the strip.

The muted jade green tones of the succulents and cactus abound were complemented greatly by bride Stephanie’s dusty blue color scheme. With blue thistle florals (which are texturally so perfect against cactus, don’t you think?) and mix and match bridesmaids and blue, we’re certain that photographers Susie & Will were dying over the creamy colors in their frames.

Our Love Story

We met at a bar! I was there for a work function and Garrett was there with his family enjoying the live music and celebrating his aunt’s birthday. My coworker is friends with Garrett’s sister and that is how we were ultimately introduced that evening.

Garrett got accepted into the Clark County Fire Department Academy so we decided to take one last little vacation before it began. We took a road trip out to La Jolla, CA. Garrett surprised me with an adorable little hotel right on the beach. We took a walk along the beach on the way to dinner one evening. Garrett walked Stephanie out on top of the La Jolla Cave and got down on one knee. It was very private and romantic.

The Dress & Attire

I found my dress fairly quickly, I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. I was looking for something with a unique or open back, a lot of lace and a high neckline and the Pronovias dress I chose checked all of those boxes.

Garrett was very particular on wanting a unique suit (not just a typical rental suit). We ended up finding the perfect suit on a UK based website Moss Bros. It was not easy ordering and coordinating with the groomsmen having to order the suits from out of country, especially since we had some errors on estimating sizes. We were SO pleased with the result and still love the suits. Garrett also chose to add the vest to his suit to set him a little apart from the groomsmen.

I wore my grandmother’s earrings as my “something old”. I also wore my sister’s bracelet that she wore on her wedding day as my “something borrowed”.

The Venue & Vibes

My vision has always been a garden wedding with a lot of greenery around. We visited Springs Preserve first on our quest for a venue and we both fell in love with the location immediately for its uniqueness and beauty. We used a lot of neutrals with pops of dusty blue.

The Florals

My vision was for neutral flowers, but with a pop of blue. I asked our florist for the anemone’s and thistle to add the blue pops of colors and ranunculus because i just think they are beautiful. Layers of Lovely put it together beautifully.

Favorite Moments

The first look with Garrett was my favorite. We are both not too used to being in the spotlight so we were a little nervous about standing in front of 120 people during the ceremony. The first look was exactly what we needed. I was nervous and anxious leading up to the first look, but as soon as we saw each other we knew the rest of the day was going to be perfect. The ceremony breezed by and I don’t even remember being nervous at all after that.

The Photography & Videography

One thing that we agreed was worth spending a little outside of our budget if it came down to is was photography. It is something that we looked more for a connection to the photography and photographers first and foremost. Susie and Will were amazing from the day that we met with them and we knew they were perfect for us!

A last minutes add on for us, and probably the one we are most happy about even though it was not in our budget, was the videographer! We did not originally budget for one but ended up deciding to hire one last minute. Happy Heart Designs went above and beyond with our wedding video and it turned out beautiful.

The DIY Details

We are both pretty crafty, so we did a lot of DIY for our wedding. Most of the signage was made by myself along with the seating assignment board and table numbers. Garrett constructed the sweetheart table and sweetheart table backdrop. Garrett also refurbished and reupholstered the sweetheart table chairs to coordinate with our blue color theme.

We also planned the centerpieces ourselves. We gathered different shapes and sizes of lanterns over the course of our engagement. We got candles and mini lights to put inside of them and had our florist add a little bit of greenery to each on the day of.

The Dessert

One item we chose to skip was a typical wedding cake. Both Garrett and I agreed on doing just a small two-tier cake just for cutting purposes. The guests all enjoyed the “bundtinis” from Nothin’ Bundt Cakes that we opted to go with instead.
