Are you the kind of bride who couldn’t care less about the dress fittings and can’t wait to divulge in menu tasting? Well, my fellow foodie bride, this Spanish wedding inspiration is for you!

Set in colonial San Antonio, Texas, is this food-filled fiesta of Spanish flavor. Planned by Bluebonnet Events & photographed by Xiaoqi Li, our two models brides were spoiled to a smorgasbord of seafood paella paired with the always party-friendly sangria. We think such a spread, crafted by the chef of San Antonio’s Toro, would land your supper in the ‘Wedding Dinner Hall of Fame’.

Spanish tiles kept the food feeling in place, with the colorful designs splashing across multiple wedding design elements – the painted cakes, the vibrant stationery & even the colorful florals! To let these colors pop & keep the food center stage, the Texas team kept our elegant brides in all white – a dapper style which we feel still might steal the show.

We were inspired by the colorful and elegant designs of Spanish tiles. A mix of custom designs and Spanish tradition can be found in our styling.

Bold florals contributed to the colorful styling of the shoot. For the cake, Rhonda of Cakes Couture created a unique abstract pattern inspired by Spanish tiles. We styled the cake two ways during the shoot – florals with the first tablescape, and then with fruit at the second tablescape to tie in with our citrus and berry sangria.

The white attire of our brides allowed the colors of the venue, food, and details to stand out even more.

We are so proud of all our custom designed elements! To name a few, the tile design was created by Kelly of The Traveled Lane. This design was also featured in our invitation suite. The tie clip had an outline of Spain on the back.

The Food

Food & drinks are central to any culture, and Spain is no exception. Our drink of choice was a berry and citrus sangria. Chef Juan Carlos, the Executive Chef of Toro, cooked two authentic paellas for the tablescapes.

The Toro Paella is a classic recipe voted best in San Antonio three years in a row! It includes jumbo shrimp, mussels, chicken, calamari, pork belly & Spanish chorizo. The Paella Marinera, a Valencian fishermen’s meal after a long day at sea, includes Baby octopus, jumbo shrimp, calamari & mussels.

Tying in an elegant, boho look, we styled the tablescape with white plates, an warm white gauze table runner, and long, white taper candles.
