Ethereal Blue Desert Wedding Inspiration

We see & feature a lot of styled shoots around these parts, and often the ones that make us most giddy are designed around real-life couples. Case in point, today’s ethereal blue elopement inspiration at sunset in the high desert.

Storybook Weddings & Events styled this gorgeous & whimsical desert scene with real couple Robyn & Jackie in mind. Incorporating personal details into the decor & showing off their impeccable style (three cheers for our short-haired brides!) this styled shoot sings just as true as our real-life elopements.

We’re particularly crushing on the dusty blue hue that seems all the rage with Bridal Musings vendors these days. If you’re planning on incorporating this beautiful tone – find more inspiration here, blue-hued gowns here and even some bridal separates in blue here!

Photographed beautifully by Madeleine Collins, we’re sure these two brides are just as smitten with their inspiration shoot photos as we are.

From Storybook Weddings & Events

The inspiration for this design really came from these two beautiful women. We knew we wanted to shoot in the desert to showcase an elopement but we didn’t quite have any of the elements come together until we chose our couple.

As far as the color palette went, we then decided to go with shades of powdered and dusty blues with white, ivory, gold and small touches of mauve.

We wanted to incorporate some personal details in the design and when sharing their love story, they mentioned how the number three played a big role in their relationship. They met on the third, got married on the third and both share the number three as life path numbers! Jackie’s stepdad also passed on the third and she felt that Robyn was a gift from him. They were clearly meant for one another. We wanted to incorporate the number three in a few special details to personalize this shoot for this special couple.

The Dresses

Robyn (our short-haired girl) is military and just one of the sweetest people I have ever met. To change it up from her green camo uniform, we dressed Robyn in an off the shoulder romantic combination lace and tulle gown and for Jackie, who had a much more ethereal look to her already, an ivory lace mermaid gown with a champagne liner.

The Tablescape

The tablescape was set for an intimate group of four, with a farm wood table and gorgeous Louis Chairs. We used an extra-long textured runner in ivory from La Tavola Fine Linen which cascaded on the ground. We adorned the table with lace rimmed china, silver embellished flatware and gold-rimmed glasses from RSVP Party Rentals, to carry on the ethereal and elegant look we chose for our brides. We carried on the powdered blue in our napkin as well as with the taper candles.

The Florals

Our floral designer, Roots Flowers & Events, incorporated three stems of each flower type in the bridal bouquets as well as 3 different shades of Hey It’s So Pretty Silk Ribbon for our brides. She used White Mojolika Spray Roses, White Ranunculus, Light Blue Hybrid Delphinium, Blue Thistle, Eriosteman, Huckleberry greenery, Sword Fern, Amnesia Roses, White Playablanca Roses and White Bleached Preserved Fern. We also chose a sprig of Italian Ruscus that had three leaves to incorporate into our place setting on each napkin.

We chose to create a special floral headpiece for Jackie for an alternate to the flower crown and still keeping it ethereal. The headpiece incorporated all the flowers from the girls’ bouquet.
