Elegant Persian Wedding Inspiration At Hawkstone Hall

Hawkstone Hall SS19

For UK brides (and so many of us in the North!), retreating indoors for some point of your wedding is mostly a given. But with beautiful venues like Hawkstone Hall, you’ll hardly miss the outdoors.

Designed by Abigail Lucy Luxury Wedding & Events & photographed by Zehra Jagani, this Persian wedding inspiration shows us how utterly gorgeous an indoor wedding can truly be. Incorporating Persian traditions and dressing our bride, groom & venue in ornate wardrobe & decor, this editorial speaks volumes to what a well thought styling scheme can do for any wedding space.

Unique to the shoot, aside from all the lavish & impeccable design, is the blue-tiled wedding cake – unlike any other cake we’ve seen yet on the blog. A confection created by Rosalind Miller, the tall square cake features broken bits of faux Persian tiling, a subtle yet gorgeous nod to the couple’s culture.

From Abigail Lucy Luxury Weddings & Events

Our styled shoot was designed to capture the beauty of two cultures. Celebrating life and love in the Western world. We heavily wanted to focus on the traditional Persian ceremony known as the ‘Sofreh Aghd’ to give our shoot a truly unique angle.

There are many symbolic items that make up the Sofreh Aghd spread, all of which represent an element of the couple’s new life and marriage together. We captured the essence of the deepest traditions such as the ‘mirror of fate’. This is a beautiful moment during the ceremony where he groom sees the reflection of his future, his wife to be, for the very first time.

My favorite part of the ceremony that we captured was the ‘Asal’ moment, this is the exchanging of hands. This is such a fun moment shared. A tradition that represents the sweetness for their life together as husband and wife.

The design inspiration came from a mixture of arts and took on a sort of ‘French Chateaux’ style We paired lots of loose unstructured floral arrangements, bright colours and greenery with antique dark wood, plush parlour chairs, royal gold finishes and soft silks. Which is why we thought it would be the perfect fit for your blog. We added lots of candlelight to create the perfect ambiance for those soft romantic shots.

Our bride stunned in a flaw length open draping back dress from designer Charlie Brear for her ceremony, before changing into a striking a-line piece from designer Jesus Peiro‘s 2020 collection for the evening reception look.
