Light & Airy Denver Botanic Garden Wedding

Trying to figure out how to incorporate as many flowers as possible into your wedding? Do what Marley & Michael did: marry in a botanic garden.

It should seem like an effortless choice for the floral-minded, on top of your bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces & garlands, using a proper garden as your wedding venue inserts gorgeous flora into each and every scene of your wedding.

And this real Denver wedding shows off the inspiration best – not only with light & airy portraits amongst the flowers, but a gorgeous & lush Jewish wedding chuppah adorned with greenery as though it’s growing right out of the garden. Pure beauty.

Photographed by Decorus Photography & planned by Curate Events & Design, this floral-filled scene is for the green-thumbed bride.

Our Love Story

A mutual friend introduced us when we were both living in Minneapolis in the summer of 2016. My childhood friend Sam met Michael and somehow convinced him to cancel plans with other friends to come along to a party so he could introduce us.

I had never been set up before, so it was a little nerve-wracking, but Michael’s sweet, funny, calming presence immediately set me at ease! We both knew very early on that our relationship was different than others we’d each had in the past.

Fast forward to September 2018, and Michael proposed on the shores of Grand Lake, Colorado, with beautiful views of fall leaves on the mountains across the lake.

The Photography & Videography

We wanted our photos and video to feel very classic so we will continue to love them forever no matter the current trends, so we immediately loved Decorus Photography’s romantic, timeless style. In fact, I had already followed her gorgeous Instagram account as inspiration before our planners even recommended our vendors! Meeting photographer Kristina Adams in person made us feel even more confident in our decision – her warm, cheery personality made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera.

We knew we wanted Shutter & Sound to capture video of our day when one of their highlight videos made both Michael and I tear up – we knew they would capture the beauty and emotion of the day perfectly!

The Wedding Style

Our wedding was a dream come true! I wanted a modern, romantic vibe with a soft color palette in shades of ivory, blush and gold, with accents of midnight blue. Our goal was to have the most amazing day with all the people we love most! We also wanted to incorporate aspects of our Jewish heritage into the day that felt more cultural than religious, like signing a ketubah before the ceremony, smashing the glass after saying ‘I do’, and dancing the horah.

Favorite Moments

It’s so hard to pick just one moment that was the most special – there were so many that were unforgettable! The moment we said ‘I do’, laughing with our closest friends as we took photos despite the 100-degree heat, our first dance (choreographed by yours truly!), our pup Luna making a guest appearance at the reception, and dancing the night away with all the people we love most.

The Planning

We leaned heavily on the recommendations of our wonderful wedding planners to select the rest of our vendors, which made planning so much less stressful. My husband Michael’s one request for our wedding was to have a live band play at the reception, which was by far one of the best decisions we made! The band was FANTASTIC and the dance floor was packed all night.

Hire a planner! Seriously. It is beyond worth it. The whole planning process was totally stress-free, and we were able to just relax and enjoy our special day thanks to our amazing planners! Make the decisions that make you and your partner the happiest – don’t worry about what anyone else thinks.

The Honeymoon

We went on a delayed honeymoon to Maui and Lanai, Hawaii about 10 weeks after our wedding. Having something else to look forward to after our big day was over was a great way to avoid a post-wedding slump and elongate the celebration!
