We love any inspiration on how brides & grooms can make one venue absolutely “theirs” with unique styling, fashion & decor. Well, today we’re featuring Part Two of Love From Mwai’s stunning Zambia wedding weekend and while yesterday was more “Italian Garden” today is more “African Bush”.

Warm, rustic, free-spirited and wholly unique, this wedding inspiration is a feast for eyes. From the colors to the florals, to the Boma style venue this editorial is so uniquely African we are totally transfixed.

DIFFERENCES CAN CREATE DIVISION OR FASCINATION.

In this shoot, we became fascinated—not divided—by difference. We embraced two cultures, two styles, and played with the beauty of diversity. The bride’s off-white gown grazed the red, dusty earth as she walked, reminding us that elegance is never out of reach and our path always marks us. We merely choose whether that mark reflects a stain or the remnants of a teachable adventure.

The bride’s hand-crafted crown paid tribute to the traditional African bride yet the off-white dress revealed her embrace of modern luxury as well. The contrast between the spiky metal and soft lace hints to the idea that we are not merely one thing. We can be strong yet soft, stiff yet pliable. The soft and textured, light and dark cake hit on this, too.

The rich and earthy colour pallet had an ethnic feel with its chocolates, creams, and browns. The sumptuous textures continued to highlight the rustic elegance and the idea that one does not need to stand separately from the other. Elegance resides in the rustic and—if you look close enough—rustic resides in elegance. By bringing the colour palette into the stationery yet utilizing an elegant script and fresh look, we played off of the idea of modern elegance and rustic roots. Two long tablescapes were laid with a mix of wooden chargers and cups and glassware to combine elegance with the handcrafted artisan work Africa is known for to create a modern and traditional African feel.

This was shot at the boma at the resort, which is a breathtaking open-air firepit area where guests often enjoy a traditional African bonfire and meal beneath the stars. Entranced by rhythmic dancing and uncontained by walls and ceilings, they encounter a liberty to embrace a different culture and the freedom to express themselves without holding back. They become fascinated by others and what lies beneath their own surfaces and that’s exactly what we expired here as we mixed and intermingled.
