We’re really starting to fall in love with Socal’s Calamigos Ranch.

No, this isn’t a sponsored ad, we’ve just received an influx of weddings taking place at the stunning Malibu venue which makes us think couples must be loving it in real life as much as we are virtually.

In our books, the best kind of venue can transform according to the couple’s own style. We saw a simple & airy version of Calamigos Ranch earlier this summer at this modern wedding. Now, we’re scrolling through photos bursting in jubilant color & tradition at this Persian & Indian wedding celebration.

Donya & Wally wanted an atmospheric wedding in nature, surrounded by their nearest and dearest while honoring their individual cultures. With two ceremonies at the beautiful ranch, an elegant dinner & a drop-dead gorgeous Oscar de la Renta wedding gown, we’d say they achieved their dream.

Our Love Story

It was Dec 31st, I was getting ready to go to Terranea’s New Year’s Eve party and my sister was pushing me to do my makeup and I am like, “Since when you are nice?” Anyway, I got ready and drove to Wally’s place. I left my car for a few minutes at his driveway and got a parking ticket – so I was mad and angry. We were joined by his friend and his wife at Terranea.

A few hours into the night, he said he wanted to go check out other events that were on the other side of the Terranea Resort. We were following him and suddenly we got to the door that would open to a pool and his friends were like “We need to use the restroom.” Still, I didn’t get it. There was a lady behind the door and he asked her to open the door. He said we wanted to go to the other side and this was a short cut.

As we entered the pool there were two glasses of champagne on the table right across from the fireplace. I was cold so he said, “Why don’t we sit here for a bit?” I was like, “Nooo what if these people show up?” He got down on one knee and…

The Wedding Style

We wanted to get married somewhere in nature with a view of water, trees and fire. Our wedding was in the summer so I wanted warm summer colors. So, we picked gold, white and blush for our wedding colors.

The Dress

I didn’t have much time to look for a dress, as I had only three months. I went to so many bridal shops and didn’t find “the one”. I wanted a simple but elegant dress. I got so lucky to find my dress by Oscar de la Renta.

The Flowers

We had an arch at our venue right in front of the water fall and i wanna it to be decorated with enough white flowers, not too much to lose its beauty but enough. We signed with Shawna less than a month before our wedding and she did a fabulous job, cannot thank her enough

Advice to Other Couples

To those like me that want everything to be perfect, nothing is gonna go the way you planned but sit back and enjoy the ride cause it flies by so fast that you were like what just happened, its already over?!
