We’ve had plenty of nature-filled elopement inspiration lately, but how about all our elegant city brides? Well, we have a treat for you today from Paradise Events & Jumi Story at the beautiful & historic The Permanent in Vancouver, Canada.

Marrying wild, bohemian florals with an elegant city venue, the talented wedding planning team behind this sophisticated editorial shows that you really can merge contrasting styles when planning your dream wedding.

With so many smaller guestlists currently on the docket (and thus, perhaps a bit available more in your wedding budget), we think it’s a great excuse to go a little ‘extra’ with your florals & wedding design. We are always captivated by stunning statement decor – like the extravagant floral installation featured here filled with texture & bohemian vibes.

This shoot is inspired by over one century old, heritage building of The Permanent.

As an event designer and florist, I am fascinated with its crown molding, mosaic tiles, white wall, and black iron gate. I wanted to make it interesting and authentic by combining a very different boho design to the editorial shoot, but still, make it harmonious in the final look.

“With this editorial, we proved that different styles can still have harmony when it is done right. For the installation, it combined the bohemian style and the elegant vibe. We used a mix of dry and fresh flowers to make a statement.”

For the tablescape, it has a balance of a modern minimalist tablescape with the tradition of the heritage building and mosaic window. The details from the tablespace captured our eye: from the modern wine glass, water goblet and grey and silver cutlery from Pedersen Rentals, to the black candle holders, and chargers from SIE collection, along with Paradise Events’ floral centerpiece, they bring the fine art mood to the editorial. We also love the modern gallery chairs that show the design contrast with the heritage building.

Speaking of the heritage building, Momo Chen’s cake design was inspired by the iconic architecture. The textured surface shows the age of the building, and the bohemian preserved flower matched Paradise Events’ floral design.

Fashion plays a big role for us. We love the simple yet elegant wedding gown and the drop pearl earrings from Luxx Nova Bridal. Jasmine Hoffman did her signature city-glam-styled makeup, finished with Clara Leung’s side wavy hair styling. We also really like the blueish grey suit from Majesty Bespoke, it gives a fresh twist from the traditional suit.

Our wedding stationery style was modern mixed with fine art. The insert of the envelope is actually the mosaic ceiling from the venue. Amari from Making Memories also included a venue drawing to accompany the stationary set.
