It’s our belief that you can make wedding magic anywhere, whatever your style & guest list may be. That said, there are certain destinations that emote certain vibes effortlessly, one being the intimate Santorni wedding.

Having been proposed to in the Cyclades & spent newly-engaged bliss in Santorini, I have first-hand knowledge of what a stunning, tiny little island this jewel of the Aegean is. Believe the hype, those postcards are real; Santorini is a Greek wedding dream.

But why is it so suited for Micro Weddings? Tiny cliff houses stack on top of each other overlooking the Caldera. Tiny chapels with blue-domed roofs create an iconic backdrop. Intimate, exclusive villas with tiny plunge pools await you & and your guests. Certainly, you could corral your whole crew to Santorini for a big affair, but we’d say that the exclusive size and nature of these little villages along Santorini’s cliffs is as intimate as intimate can be. Not to mention, flying to Greece & jetting through the cool blue waters may be easier for a select few than a mass of guests.

But these photos by Kimonas Photography not only prove that Santorini was tailor-made to be a micro wedding destination, but it’s also quite possibly the most stunning vow renewal we have ever seen. Sophia & Ralph, having spent so much of their romance in Santorini, made a few adjustments to their wedding plans due to COVID-19 (just like so many of you reading!) and finally pivoted from a big wedding to celebrate their vow renewal on the Cycladic island.

The truth is, these are not the easier times we are in (internationally), and maybe the best solution right now for all the brides & grooms to be, is to postpone their wedding and not to cancel.

Our Italian couple, Sophia & Ralph, decided to transform their dreamy wedding into a micro one on the magical island of Santorini last July, with some close friends and family.

In 2016 the gorgeous couple visited Santorini and fell madly in love with it, so much so that they decided to go back there every year! The breathtaking island has basically become their second home, with everything feeling so familiar. Then in July 2018, Ralph asked Sophia to marry him while they were in Santorini during their summer holidays. They quickly decided that the perfect destination to tie the knot would have to be the place that always made them feel the magic of their true love: Santorini.

Designing Sophia & Ralph’s wedding was such a pleasure for our team, due to this difficult wedding season, that our industry faced with the pandemic and Covid-19.

The Dress & Wedding Style

This wedding was filled with flair and dipped in romance and elegance. From the bridal details, with the absolutely gorgeous bridal gown from “Made Bride” by Antonea, to the lush flower decoration from “Fillo Flowers” and the rich décoration in the wedding ceremony and reception set up, everything looks just magnificent.

The whole design of the wedding, as well as the color palette, with light blue starring, was worked with our beloved bride Sofia since it’s her favorite color and based on the expectations that our couple had assigned to us.

The Destination

Its elegance, its romance as well as the idyllic scenery of Santorini from this new wedding venue El Viento Villa, made our hearts melt and our eyes seek for more. There are so many things in this wedding that we absolutely adore. And, as you see the images that follow, we are certain you will also fall in love with every bit of this creative and filled with flair micro wedding.

Our dream team designed a remarkable decoration for this wedding, which was so rich yet classic that truly spoke to our soul. Simultaneously, the destination photographer Kimonas Patiniotis provided us with an outstanding result, creating images that resemble the authenticity of the moment, as well as the love of this beautiful couple.

The Greek Touches

Another mission we had to carry out was the addition of authentic Greek elements, in the whole concept, such as the Greek ancient amphorae and the vine leaves.

Our couple loves Greece very much and especially Santorini, so this stylish arch with the ancient Greek amphorae was a fantastic idea for them, filled with flowers in vivid colors, creating a sense of magnified beauty and glamour. This combination together with the amazing background of the caldera cliffs gave a unique romantic touch to the whole setup.

The Reception

Our happiest moment on a wedding day is setting the dinner table! It is the time that we enjoy the most because it means that all other wedding details are ready and we can give our undivided attention to our favorite flowers & dinnerware, preparing them for our couple and their guests to see and admire! Τhe same thing happened at this wedding as well.

Pale blue fabrics, with beautifully matched glass details and white candles, made this wedding dinner table look like a real fairytale. Have a look at the huge wooden construction with the pale blue curtains, and the silver handmade chandeliers hanging from it. Just amazing!

Lovely moments followed at this beautiful wedding dinner table for our couple, and their guests. They enjoyed a romantic dinner, prepared by the executive experts of El Viento Villa & an unforgettable party, dancing till late in the night.

Advice to Other Couples

All in all, a small tip from our team to all couples to be, is that you need to take a deep breath, think clearly and act fast and efficiently. This situation came out of the blue for all of us. Maintain positive thinking and remember that in the end, everything will be alright.
