Are you planning to wear a Qipao on your wedding day? If you’re looking for something romantic & whimsical, this Cantonese wedding inspiration from the gardens of Hong Kong will inspire…

Like a silvery pearl pulled from the South China Sea, today’s bridal fashion is all the best of traditional Chinese design with remarkably romantic embellishments. While traditional in style, we find the color choice – a misty grey – so fitting for brides looking to add more subtle color to their wedding wardrobe.

Inspired by Cantonese Opera, photographer Angel Cheung featured this showstopping gown alongside a number of romantic, glimmering details. A silvery pearl engagement ring & encrusted bridal shoes emulated the gown’s modern hue & the bouquet filled with heirloom colors seemed to be taken right out of the Qipao’s stunning embroidery.

For those who adore Chinese wedding traditions like we do, this inspiration will stay on your mind…

From Angel Cheung Photography

I have been interested in Cantonese Opera and started learning this performing art since childhood. From then on, I am obsessed with Chinese culture and traditional clothing. To showcase the oriental beauty, we created an editorial of the bride with traditional Chinese details.

Kitty at Joy Makeup created a very delicate hairstyle and exquisite makeup that enhanced the natural beauty of the bride. We kept the accessories simple yet elegant with a pair of Darin Heel Sandal from Odelicate and a Chelleryhk Tahiti pearl diamond ring as well as jade earrings.

Hand-written stationery was designed by Ronsa Lee. The blackish green paper with famous love poems and Chinese brush painting added a touch of romantic charm.

The dresses by Cinobi from The Other Half Bridal were the perfect pairing against the classical Chinese garden. The gorgeous bouquet created by Fleur Artchics lighted up the shoot flawlessly.
