If you hike through the forested peaks of Lake Como, you’ll find a floral wonder: wild, blue hydrangea.
During our yearlong honeymoon, Jack and I spent ten blissful days in a small mountaintop village aside Lake Como. We relished in lakeside aperitifs, lunches at our secret beach, trips to our favorite alimentari for wine & meats and walks through forests to and from stunning Italian villas. Throughout our hikes, I foraged for wild hydrangea. Pressing them on the road, they now hang framed on our wall. A reminder that we’ll return to this most beautiful lake before too long.
So, it was an instant yes when we received this intimate Lake Como wedding dressed in whimsical blue hydrangeas. Marrying in a classic Italian villa, Helen & Jeremy’s micro wedding is as enchanting as can be. The stunning local hydrangeas were complemented by dusty blue decor & candles, an entirely whimsical scene.
Dining al fresco, cutting an incredible towering cake & then hopping in their getaway boat, this is Lake Como wedding bliss.
The Destination
I had been to a wedding abroad and everyone had the best time. We always loved the vibe, beauty, food and weather of Italy and when we saw Lake Como, we thought it was the most beautiful place on earth!
We did lots of research and when we found Aurora from Lake Como Weddings and Events we instantly thought she was the right person for us. We are so happy with our decision to engage her in helping us create the wedding of our dreams…and what a dream come true it has been! We had such an amazing time and did not have to worry about all the details as Aurora was there every step of the way making sure that things run as smoothly as possible.
We rented an amazing location, Villa Ortensia. It also has accommodations and we stayed there with our immediate family. It was so secluded and had excellent facilities, including an outdoor pool.
We fell in love with Villa Ortensia and its surrounding, our “theme” was classy and romantic. I chose hydrangeas as the main flowers, as they are typical of Lake Como.
Favorite Moment
When the time came to walk down the aisle, and we exchanged that first glance, it was pure magic. From the moment our wedding began to the very last dance of the night, love was present in every moment and it truly felt like the perfect day.

When we saw Alessandro Colle’s shots we instantly fell in love with its style – his photographs are pure art! We also had an extra treat with Francesco which took the most breathtaking aerial footage of us on a Riva Boat.
