Chic and Intimate: A Springtime Wedding in the French Countryside

CH3A1799

Catherine and Kevin’s wedding at Chateau de Saint Paul à Boudy de Beauregard was a beautiful blend of historic charm and modern elegance. Nestled in the serene French countryside, the chateau provided a picturesque setting. Photographer Romain Didier (AKA The French Wedding Photographer) captured the day with a mix of candid and posed shots, emphasizing the venue’s architectural beauty and the couple’s joyful moments.

The event was expertly planned by Marry Me in France, ensuring a seamless flow from start to finish. Maryflor’s vibrant floral arrangements added bursts of color and sophistication, perfectly complementing the chateau’s timeless appeal. The wedding’s decor and overall style reflected a classic yet relaxed ambiance, aligning with Catherine and Kevin’s vision for their special day.

The Love Story

Kevin took me on a rollercoaster of emotions the day of our engagement. That morning we woke and I went to get my nails done as arranged and we had talked about going for a hike that afternoon. When I returned home after my appointment I discovered he was no longer there and had left me a note with directions. This led me to a number of locations throughout the day, meeting different family and friends. The final location was a beautiful Airbnb nestled in between the Mourne Mountains, a place very close to my heart, where he finally popped the question (and I forgave him for the wild goose chase)

Wedding Planning

When Kevin and I started planning our wedding we instantly knew that we wanted something intimate, with our closest friends and family. We wished to reflect the season of Spring through our color palette and encouraged our guests not to shy away from wearing color. Overall we wanted a classic, timeless feel to the day without it feeling too formal.

Honeymoon

Following our wedding, we stayed at our venue for a further night with our guests. After which, our guests returned home and we continued to explore France, travelling to Biarritz on a whim as we left that morning. Biarritz had such a laid-back feel and we loved wandering around the town, going from coffee shops to eatery’s.

Our first dance song was Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, a song we had decided upon as our first dance early on into our relationship and is Kevin’s all time favourite band. Whilst in a coffee shop overlooking the sea, Kevin noticed a gentleman come into the cafe and sit down behind us. By the quick change in Kevin’s presentation (to absolute panic) I asked what was wrong, to which he replied “James Hetfield (the lead singer of Metallica) is sitting behind you”. Kevin mustered the courage to introduce himself and after a pleasant and brief encounter we walked away, on cloud 9.

Soon after we left we realised we had not told him about our first dance being the song he had wrote. However, happily later on that evening we again stumbled across James and his band mate Robert Trujillo and were able to show them the video of our first dance. This was the perfect way to end our wedding chapter as we entered into life as a married couple.

Reflections and Advice

Try to plan as much in advance as you can. Don’t underestimate the logistics of planning a destination wedding. Soak it in, because it goes so fast. Try to enjoy every part, even the stressful parts. There will be stressful times throughout the process, where you might wonder why you’re doing this. But when it all comes together, it’s will be worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
