I've got a treat for you today. Sarah Jane Sadler {LSWPP} of Sarah Janes Photography, who shared her beautiful photos of Ingrid and Doug's candle lit ceremony here, is back on Bridal Musings to take part in A Glimpse Behind the Lens! {I love it when talented, creative photographers come back for second helpings!}
So lets find out a little more about the lady behind the lens and swoon over more of her romantic photography!
Location/Coverage: Based in Flintshire….will cover anywhere…. but mostly North Wales, Chester, Wirral, Warrington, Manchester
Describe yourself in 3 words: I asked my 9 year old Megan and she said Beautiful, Clever & Talented…so well trained but I think I would have to say Romantic, Sentimental & a tad Quirky
Describe your photography style in 3 words:
Emotionally based, Romantic, Documentary is that four?
When did your love affair with photography begin?
My photography love affair began when I was just a girl. My wonderful, beautiful late Nan, like me, was very sentimental, and although she could not take a photograph my Nan adored photography….and so married a photographer!
She was Beautiful, I mean Liz Taylor beautiful with an 18 inch waist to match, and in her day was working as a Bunny girl at a club in Chester {her name was Miss England….and I have the original promo photograph of my beautiful Nan in my front room} So There were old photographs all around my Nan’s home….and she {and I} would love nothing more than to sit down looking at the old faded photographs and telling me the stories behind the images.
During the end of my Nan’s life she suffered with Alzheimer's, and every night before bed my beautiful Nan would go around her front room looking and talking about every photograph she had ….all those stories have now died with her and all that remains are the photographs.
Although I loved photography it was not until I befriended my own wedding photographers that I decided to pick up a camera….I would go and help the local husband and wife team carry their gear at weddings, and after around 2 years my friend gave me a camera and said “you have a go” so I spent the afternoon snapping and playing away {he-he} and the images were absolutely rubbish….but that night I could not sleep!! I knew then that this was what I wanted to do..
What inspires you?
I love Art; I love to spend time at the Lady Lever art Gallery on the Wirral or the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. I love Fashion..I love the style of the 1940-1950’s, Marilyn Monroe, Art deco, what a Fab era to have lived in.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The people I meet, for me photography is all about capturing the essence of someone. I find people intriguing….and I have always been a great lover of people watching!!
What is your favourite wedding moment to capture on camera?
I don’t think I have one….hmmmm thinking and no I can’t say I have one, I think because all weddings are so different, there seems to be a different highlight {for me anyway} so while editing the images there will be a cluster of images that I will think WOW….maybe it is just a look, a joke and the couple are belly laughing out loud, the ceremony, the 1st dance ooooh I love it all hehe!
What advice would you give to couples to help them to get the best from their wedding photography?
Just enjoy every second of it!! Find someone who “gets” you, if you feel you have to give a list of “must have” photographs then really is this the photographer for you? And trust your photographer….you have seen their work and love it, you have met and get on really well…just enjoy and have fun!!
What is your current wedding-related obsession?
Anything vintage! I would love to photograph a full on Mad men styled wedding….please….anyone?!!
Out of all the weddings you have photographed, which photo makes you go ‘Wow!’ every-time you see it:
Probably nothing award winning, but I just love autumn low light images…even when I am shooting those kind of images I get Goosebumps.
I loved hearing Sarah talking about her glamourous nan, it was such a charming insight into Sarah's love of all things vintage and her oh so romantic style of photography.

So which image made you go ‘wow'?
{For me, it's a toss up between the little girl with the crown or the black and white photo with the bride and groom and a bunch of their guests on the steps…there is so much life in that photo it's positively captivating!}
